Stay below 4000 rpm's and only use maximum 3/4 throttle for the first 1,000 - 1,500 miles. JMO.

I don't know how an SS owner can stay below 4000 rpm for 1500 miles. After 300 miles I got really itchy to take some people for some test drives and see what it can do. I have an auto trans. I made it 300 miles without flooring it. The last few days I floored it while moving about 10 times or less while moving about 5-10 mph thru about 3rd gear. I definately went to the 6200 rpm shift points (automatic transmission). I think I did it once from a dead stop. All times with the traction control on.

The reason why I ask is today I heard the bearings rap once or twice or more when starting for that quick second before the oil pressure builds up. It sounded like a tiny bearing rap a couple of times before the oil presure builds up.. It could have been a lifter. My car is in the garage so all the motor sounds echo off the walls. I couldn't reproduce the sound again. Maybe it needs to cool off again to reproduce it. Can these motors be noisy for a second or a half of a second when starting them up.

I'm sure it's all my paraniod imagination. I want the car to last forever.

Lol. Floored mine for the first time on the test drive and I don't think I've back off it yet. I'm at 6800 miles in less then 2 months.

I left the dealership in Nebraska on 1/5/10 heading south with snow and ice everywhere. I put it to the floor every time I left a light and had a dry patch of road that could handle the power in those conditions. My car has 2635 miles on it now.

On my test drive I took bumble bee up to 113 MPH. It is a new engine but new engines have come a long way, don't be afraid to use it.

I hate to tell ya but chances are unless you got yours the day it was pulled off the truck at the dealer it probably saw it's fair share of WOT operation before you ever bought it.
Spirited test drives of the 2010 Camaros are quite common...
