Indecisive

I'm kind of a narrow guy and one of those people that rides with one hand on the steering wheel and the other resting on the center console most of the time. I found on my last 400 mile road trip that my shoulders got sore because there's nowhere to rest your arms while driving. The rest in the door is about a foot too low and the console is too far away for the other side.
The most comfortable position I found was driving underhand with my hands at the bottom of the wheel and arms resting in my lap. Am I missing some technique? Visibility is a non-issue. I've mastered the duck and weave to see under the rear view mirror when making a right turn. The doors are so long that the side mirrors can be adjusted so there's virtually no blind spot between turning your head and glancing out the side and using the mirrors. My only other complaint is the car has exactly the right wheelbase to buck like crazy with the stiff suspension on that stupid slab concrete highway they have in some spots. |
