I have 5800 miles on my car and my dealer told me that GM will repaint as a one time deal im having my gills and front bumper painted for free. They also said the only fix would be the splash gaurds and i dont know how good that would look. I was also told that the EPA is making GM use water based paint on all there cars and trucks. Its is soft and thin paint.

I have my splash guard too. They look great after you get used to them. I believe in staying far away from the car in front of you and watching out for debris, sand, rocks in the road. So far no chips in the gills, but 3 chips on the roof ???? Why I don't know.

That aside, the paint scratches so easy, and is so thin. When they called me and asked me if I liked the car I said "everything but the paint job".

The issue I'm having is that side of the car from about half way down the car to the end gets very dirty, very quickly, especially in the gill area.

Just found 2 more chips on my hood.

I spend more time fixing chips than driving.

Yeah, I have noticed the paint seems to chip easily. Shoot, my 98 Honda Civic has 180,000 + miles on in and the paint doesn't chip as easily. Kinda pisses me off, you spend 30+K for a car.....the paint needs to be more durable. Screw the EPA!

I just got an e-mail saying they'd be in contact soon. I think this issue needs to be brought up more often. All we need is free clear bra and I'll be happy :P

Working on the same problem, service manager is bringing in GM rep to take a look. Most of my damage is on the front however...

Man if feel for all the guys driving to C5fest, there isn't going to be any paint left.

Luckily though I only have two chips (1684 miles), debating if I should just go and get it re-cleared.

I just e mailed chevrolet on their website and gave both my cell and home number to contact me. I will inform everyone to see what happens. My dealership is going to take care of some chips, but this isn't the issue. Issue is the paint shouldn't scratch and chip so easily.

I also have seen chips in the Gill area just recently.

I have 12,000 miles now, plus 3,000 miles to Georgia and back for C5Fest.

I would love to find out what Chevy has to say in regards to this issue.

RE-cleared ? The problem is in the prep process in my opinion. The color coat is not adhearing to the primer/sealer for some reason. I've never seen a car chip like this new Camaro. Clear all you want, It will still chip.
My daily driver, a 06 Impala with 60,000 miles- NO chips.
