Idling is not good for the car so it is better to drive right away, just go easy on it until it warms up.

Start it up, give it 30 seconds and then go. I wouldn't be doing a burnout right away but the parts are moving in gear or in neutral, the pistons dont work any harder, just go up and down faster. Drive normal and your fine.

I think you are coming from a pre-multi-viscosity oil frame of mind. Cars today are fully lubricated in just a few seconds, particularly with synthetic oils like the Camaro uses. If it is extremely cold, I let it run for about a minute, but in the summer, I put it in gear and just keep the revs below 2000 until it is warm. Driving under a light load will actually get it warmed up faster, reducing the total wear. 9 winters and 116,000 miles on my current car. It uses no oil, and I get 35-38 MPG out of every tank (on a car with a 28 EPA hwy rating).

Cars typically need about 20 seconds to get the oil circulated. After that, you should drive it to warm it up quicker (no romping/putting a large load on it though). Idling it will actually cause MORE wear and tear because you are runnning it at a lower temp longer than if you drove it.

I do this all the time with the Camaro even though I live in Sunny California. Im used to doing this in all my older cars(all of which are well over 150K miles) so I kindda feel uneasy driving off right after I start up the car. I dont wait a few minutes Like I did with the 93 Celica, But I do wait atleast for the revs to drop under 1K before I take off.

I know modern cars dont need this but after driving cars with 170+ miles on them that are still going strong I do thing Little things like this will add life to my Camaro.

You can get it them and go although it is generally better to give at least a slight warm up time. But like others said as long as you drive "gently" you should be fine if you start it up and go.

Those that are saying let it warm up for a few minutes are using the old school mentality from cars back in the day.

Everything I've read points to giving it 10-15 seconds, then drive under light load for a bit and you're fine.

I usually wait until the idle drops below 1k. By then the oil is circulated and should be good to go. Just wait until its up to temp before getting on it.

All that's needed is to get oil pressure and it's ready to go. I just take it easy for a few minutes. The LS3 gets up to temp pretty quick.
