i have a kit also being installed, which should have been done yesterday but they had to keep it over night due to some issues with volume also.

Here is what the installed told me:

All new Chevys have internal memory to save the volume level of the radio when the power to the car is cycled. You know, when you turn the car on and it drops the radio volume down so to not be so loud.

ANyhow, he says you need to have the installed put the stock radio back in, turn the volume all the way to max then disconnect the ground wire to the car battery. this will prevent the car fromn saving the minimal voulme settings when powering off the car. when he did this last night and reconnected the new DIN it actually worked great and with the potentiometers being left in the same place they came from shipping.

So if your having volume problems ask your installer to try this fix. before the fix i would turn volume all the way to max and it would still sound like a whisper over the speakers.

Anyone have any input on if my factory unit has a separate amp or any input on the antenna question?
thanks

you do need an adapter for the AM/FM antenna so it can plug into the new head unit you have to use the mic that came for the head unit that will work with the unit and the mic in the car will also work for onstar so you will have 2 mics Until metra comes out with a firmware update if they do And for the Satellite radio you can use your factory antenna plug in but you do need to get a new module cause you just took the oem one out when the radio came out
