VTX, when I pick up my car next week I'll poke around for a good spot see what I can come up with.
I may just find a spot when I can put my level II serpa holster, somehow mount it where I can grab and it, but in a place it cant be seen.

LOL...
I used to work with a guy that carried just about everywhere...I made him pretty mad one day when I walked into work and said.. "Hey, I figured out who you are....you're that guy in movies whose face down in the bank and slowly reaches for his gun...and the robbers shoot him." re: the sheep/wolf comments...lol...if that makes YOU feel better...to me it sounds asinine. ![]() when I read that comment..this was the 'voice' I heard it in... ![]() I'm perfectly fine with the right to bear and conceal/carry laws...but the 'egos' need to be checked at the door.

Back to the topic at hand for a place to carry, You might look at the drivers door pocket. My Glock 27 will fit in this pocket butt up muzzle to the rear. Only problem with this area is if you open your door the butt might be visible. My model 27 fits real well in an inside the waistband holster just behind the seat belt wedged down between the seat and console. There is a chance the pistol could slide back through the space between the back of the seat and onto the rear floor. My model 27 fits in the console box but I usually have to much stuff in there for my pistol and everything else. After being a LEO more than 30 plus years I prefer to keep mine on my person because its more secure. I never liked leaving a pistol in a vehicle because I never liked the idea of it being stolen. A car never made a very good holster if you really needed the pistol you can't always get back to the car. If I had to leave a gun in the car it was usually in the trunk completely out of sight. I was always careful not to let people see me putting the pistol or other gun/case into my trunk then leaving the car. Personally I like the idea of private citizens having the right to carry. Working in rural areas it takes the cops a long time to get to a call and the officers are few and far between. Sometimes an honest citizen is the closet backup for an officer when things go bad. If a bad guy new every home had a trained gun owner inside I think the crime rates would plummet. An armed society of law abiding citizen is not a bad thing.

To OP, your not alone. In fact I am looking at buying a Glock 9mm in the near future for my "CC" gun. It will stay in my car most of the time. Lawful, licensed citizens should not alarm anyone. I even live in a nice neighborhood in middle Georgia, I will carry anyway.
Perhaps its my military background, dunno

You should read "On Combat " by Lt. Col. Grossman, Then you'll understand what it means to be a sheep in a wolf infested world and LEO's are the Sheepdogs. It's not an ego thing, its a survival thing when the SH*T Hits the fan. But then again if you're not an LEO you might not really understand. |

There was an episode of West Coast Customs recently where they were building a truck for a movie that Stallone was doing...and the console had a spot for a weapon to pop up - that'd be a nice custom thing for ya

I've never been a sheep, and at almost 40 years old I have yet to run into a single situation in which carrying a weapon would have benefited the situation in a positive manner. Keep in mind, I'm FINE with your right & choice to conceal/carry, as long as you obey the laws as they're written and don't unnecessarily endanger others (which means using good judgment and understanding that brandishing your firearm should always be the LAST resort). But that's way off topic. To the OP...regarding places to store your weapon in your car. I would think there would be two primary concerns. Where to store it safely and where to store it securely. I would think that very low on the priority list would be 'quick and easy access'. By that, I mean it's not very likely that you're going to face a situation where your 'draw time' is going to have a measurable outcome on the situation. The likelihood that you'll be firing from the drivers seat I would imagine is slim to none...so store it safely and securely. It may add a few seconds to your normal ingress/egress routine...but you'll be operating more responsibly. Just my opinion.

Wow! I didn't realize i started controversy...If you feel better with the gun then I say great...my father in law is an ex cop and carries it all the time in his vehicle. As far where to put it, how about mounting a holster of some sort(you might have to drill a hole or two)under the dash to the right of the steering column/left of the center console gauge cluster. Assuming your a righty it would be both hidden and in perfect graspping position should you ever feel you needed it.

I carry as well and I fully understand your pain on this. I used to have a GTO and yes it was a little more freindlier for carrying. I actually keep it right behind the passenger seat, its easier to grab from there than you would think. If i have passengers I either case it up in the trunk or leave it in my holster ( not comfortable )
