Huh, really? Maybe I didn't hear you right.

When you start your car or turn on your stereo, the default is 14... 23 is only up 9 tics from there.

By the way... it goes to 45, not 40 (at least the upgraded BA does).

I tend to have my stereo at 30+, and windows down. Although wisely, if I do spy a cop car of any sorts, I will turn it down... but certainly not below 23.

I don't think I've put my stereo above 16 because it's loud enough as is. Are you legally deaf or something? Do you not have the boston accoustics speakers maybe?

15 is loud enough to feel the bass and hear everything. If your music is above something like 103 decibels, it's considered noise pollution. Police here are "trained" to be able to tell if your music is above the limit, so they can write tickets on their word.

If I were you, go get a decibel meter and turnyour volume up to 23 and then see how loud it is...

i have gotten this ticket when i was 17.... it is actually a moving violation (like a speeding ticket)... it a moving violation based on the fact you cant hear emergency vehicles, which might cause a accident.

i agree that this is a stupid ticket, but don't be mad at the cop. Sure, you wish she would just let it go...I would too. But her job is to enforce the laws, not write them. There is a decibel law in California. If a person outside your car can hear your music, it's too loud under the law (95 db in CA). Most cops don't care, but I turn it down just in case (and I never take it past 20).

If you don't like the law, write to your representative, don't complain about the cop or pull the race card.

Besides, why are you bumping your music while driving to a funeral?

A ticket for music volume?? Sounds like you were out of control, really. Someone could've died.

Some cops
