Was it Ponch or Jon that got you? Grossman would have written you up for sure. Sorry, can't hear California CHP without thinking of CHiPs. Was one of may favorite shows back in the day.

I have found in my experiences with the police that if you are polite most of the time you will be let off the hook if you werent doing anything crazy. The right attitude goes a long way with most people, and that goes for most things in life

Call your parents and give them a big "thank you" for making you who you are today. Think how great this world would be if all parents were as good as yours.

Lucky, Lucky! That's awesome.

A little bit of 'polite' goes a long way! 'Don't cost nothing to be polite.'

LOL thanks for that... made my morning.

About the violation. What's the distance to keep between vehicles when driving in Cali? I remember an old rule of thumb was like 1 car length per 10 mph, but i guess it's a judgement call by the cop. Silly question i guess since i don't believe we have it in Michigan. What is this driving school option, and what are the benefits?

Thanks and drive safe!

My brother is 2 years younger than I and he ALWAYS went on the offensive as soon as the cop came to the window, you know, things like "why did you pull me over", "no, that is not my beer in the back seat", things like that and he ALWAYS got the ticket. Now, I was just the oppisite, when the lights come on, I pull over and get my registration and everything out so that once the officer gets to the car it is ready for him and when he asked why I thought I was pulled over, I would tell him exactly what I did wrong. Now mind you, it could be the same thing that my brother got pulled over for and 80% of the time I would get off with just a warning.

Pretty sure that is the law everywhere. No one obeys it in California though. That's why it's a bit frustrating that he pulled you over for it. I guarantee he saw 10 cars do the exact same thing in the 10 minutes before he came across you.

I think he just wanted a better look at the Camaro!

I have always been respectful and honest to every officer that ever pulled me over and still always get written up. When you are on the road as much as I am (about 60,000 per year) your odds of getting tagged is greatly increased. I usually go 2-3 years between tickets.

My point is.......you are lucky, savor the flavor!!

I have been pulled over twice in this car already first for a seemingly running a red light and second for being 10 over 35 mph, they had just changed the sign. Politeness has helped but I think the car has helped just as much. When I was in the TSX, I showed the same politeness but was getting killed by the tickets.

Thanks for all the positive comments

I did not move when I stopped because of the tint, I figured the officer would not know what I was doing - that's why I waited and told the officer what & where I'd be reaching for. Again, he walked up slower that I expected so I was trying to anticipate what he was thinking - young punk driving like an idiot...

Yes, I was Very lucky and like I already said, I deserved a ticket...

Thanks!
Michael J.

Thankfully I haven't been pulled over in a while, and that is what I've done in the past. But in the future what I'd do is pull over, turn off car, turn dome light on if it is dark, puts both hands on steering wheel at 10:00 so he can see them as he approaches, and wait for him to ask for my papers before I start rooting around in console and/or glove box. Think about it, if your the cop and they see you rooting around in the car, they've got to be thinking "going for a gun, hiding some contraband, etc?" Plus if you wait to go into your console/glove box/etc. while they're standing there, they'd be less likely to think you're trying to hide something. Just my 2 cents.
