Let us know how it turns out....of course, he could change it front of your face, then change it again after you leave.
I'm worried about that too. Now, i'm #1...but that doesn't mean I'll stay that way. Note to Self: "check my priority number again in December"

Okay, so is this workbench number suppose to be given to everyone because I never got a number and it worries me that I will be put at the bottom or that my order will be put in when they feel like it.....

+1 I'm a little worried too but they said I don't need one. And that they do it by name and that every dealer does it differently. They said I'm number 6 at that dealer and that if I want the number it will be generated in 2 weeks.

I have priority 2 on my sheet, but that is because the salesman put in the order for his personal car first. It was nice to order from a fellow Camaro fan. He was telling me about his '02 Anniversary Edition while putting in my order.

A couple of clarifications. When the order is entered it generates a 6 digit number immediately, it could be a combination of numbers and letters. The dealer assigns a priority number, but could assign everyone a number one. It is simply a method of stacking the orders. Even if they are stacked in the order they were received by the dealer, they will not necessarily be built in that order. The day the allocation is received ( on Thursdays) the dealer needs to match up the orders with any constraints in production, I. E. the first order might be a 2SS and they are on hold so it isn't buildable that week. The dealer needs to cycle down the list until he has one that is buildable. The dealer has until Saturday to "place' the order. Sunday and Monday the system is locked down and nothing can be done. On Tuesday the order will show as Placed ( the order is accepted by GM. )The dealer can go in and change the placed order on Tuesday if need be, but at 4 Eastern the system is locked and the order is then unchangeable. Some dealers don't run the system this way and let the computer cycle down thru the order stack and pick one, but that is obviously less desireable. The reason is the dealer could have say received the 2SS constraint ( maybe there were 100 available nationally and he had one on Thursday), and he let the system place a 1SS that was at the top of his stack, and Tuesday he can no longer get the 2SS bcause it is gone. Hope this makes sense.

My dealer has ordered 6 2SS's and we all are priority number 1.
I'm first and we have been stacked by rows for order placement. I'm in row one obviously and since we all want 2SS's, it's not looking loke anyone else's will be built before mine. The dealer has 6 spots left and could order something later that is built first. Either way, with only a few thousand pre-orders, I'm deeling really good about getting my car in March. |
