What a stupid law. I can understand trying to protect the species, but if these birds land in your path, it's more dangerous swerving to avoid them.

yeah i was think why didnt i just do it. but i would have felt to guilty, i mean i ran over a squirrel back when i first got my license, and i was stressed out for like a month.

Sorry, I live in Florida too and there is no law on the books that requires you to risk your life to save a bird. There simply is no such law. Leaving the roadway is risking your life. The bird should have died.

yeah i thought that they wouldnt be fixable either, but i just googled "rim repair" and i found a whole bunch of things, even a video of how they do it, and it seems like its the best alternative.
