I actually wish the Camaro would have offered seating like the HHR SS. It's a mesh/suede/leather combo.

The armrests are a little minivan, but the materials look sporty, and comfy. Definitely sportier than the cloth seats on Camaro...

I'm definitely not a fan of Chevy slapping SS all over cars that just aren't worthy. And to clarify- if it makes less than 300hp, it's not worthy. And that's just a ground rule. There should be other conditions as well, (platform, vehicle type, etc) but a car that does not produce at least 300hp (classic cars excluded) should not be get an SS badge. Sorry, my opinion.
to let you know the old lt1 camaros in the 90s were called ss
they would have a real tough time of it up against a hhr ss

According to GM their tune will give you:

Power gains of 30 horsepower (22 kW) and as much as 80 lb.-ft. of torque (108 Nm) are achievable with GMPP’s Turbo Upgrade Kit (part number 19212670, MSRP $650). It fits vehicles powered by the LNF 2.0L turbocharged engine, including the Cobalt SS, HHR SS, the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Red Line.

So 290hp but 340lbft of torque but it's also lighter than a 5th GEN V6 Camaro. That would be a fun one to watch at a drag strip.

Like I said, it's a little sleeper. I think GM missed the boat of not running with the HHR SS by making it more of a Subaru killer by giving it AWD and a little more power.

In reference of course to modern vehicles. In the 90's, 275hp was a pretty decent number. And of course, the SS moniker wasn't brought back to Camaro until 96, at which time the LT1 was made to output 305hp- just clearing my "SS minimum"

By today's standards, or even as far back as 98 (birth of LS series Camaro) 300hp definitely doesn't seem like too much to ask from a car that's going to sport the SS badge.

For example:
2002 Monte Carlo "SS"

Output at the crank: a pithy 200HP. Now who decided this deserved an SS badge?....

I'm not tryin to dog anyone's car, I'm just makin a point. If it's going to say "SS" it ought to mean something.

We have a 2006 black LT and I ordered the SS GFX package for it. Very comfortable ride, zero problems

The HHR SS has an LNF like the sky redline, GXP solstice and cobalt SS from '08 onward. With minor bolt ons and a tune, 300whp is simple. Not my taste, but definitely not a bad ride.

The guy that helped me with the Sky had this system on his HHR SS. He loved it.

That being said, I had an HHR SS right before I picked up Number 3 in December 08. It would easily overpower the front tires and I imagine with the GMPP upgrade it would literally smoke them off the rims. The one I had was a manual.

Also, the Delta architecture (Cobalt, HHR) was not designed to be AWD, even though I would have to have seen that as well. Would have made for an interesting package for sure.

Looks pretty nice Ssooch, I like it. I've never been in one but I've been in the turbo cobalt and it was pretty damned fast.

Interestingly enough for Revo1, Mark Reuss the VP of blahblahblah for Chevy said this:

"Reuss told reporters Thursday that instead of smearing the SS across Chevrolets "like peanut butter," the "new" GM will carefully consider which models get the SS designation at all, which ones will get SS as just a trim level and which ones will get the full SS treatment.

He noted that throughout Chevrolet's history, SS has been used as a sporty trim package as well as on a full-blown model with a powerful engine and all of the accompaniments. But mixing the two strategies as GM did with the Cobalt was "a mistake," he said.

"We probably didn't do a very good job on the Cobalt SS," said Reuss, who headed GM's performance operations before taking over GM's Holden operations in Australia, just prior to his newest job. "We came out with probably the best sport compact tuner with the 265-horsepower Cobalt SS. That car was an amazing track car, it was fun to drive and it was very affordable."

But then GM also put the SS label on a Cobalt as a trim package but without the engine and other performance hardware.

"That was confusing — confusing to me and confusing to the customer," said Reuss. "It's like trainspotting, figuring out which SS has the 265-horsepower engine."

So basically Chevy agrees with you going into the future. But it's not a flat 300hp thing, but an overall worthy thing.

SS badges in the future will only be on cars that actually deserve it. Other cars will soon have RS models though, similar to Camaro. Appearance package only.

I'm a huge fan of the HHR SS. This is a car that truly deserves its SS badge. It smacks the competition.
