It's not that it was fixed, the ump just flatout missed the call. Fixed would indicate the ump purposely made that call. That is not the case. He just SUCKS!!!!!

Umpires have a real problem with getting together and asking for help from their crew. They head ref in a basketball or football game will discuss things if others see it differently, and occasionally change the call. Umpires will not. They have a big problem with the macho thing. Evidenced by Jim Joyce's ridiculous mustache.

Seeing as the ump readily admitted it and the next player grounded out so not impacting the outcome of the inning then MLB should reverse the call and award the Perfect Game. It may be a precedent for pitching but looking back at the reversal of an on-field call from infamous Pine Tar Incident with the Royals / Yankees MLB can point to that to make things right after the fact - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_Tar_Incident

I'm in full agreement with you Tom. I've stated the same thing. He deserves to have his name in the record books as only the 21st pitcher to accomplish this feat.

How diasppointing,
Galarraga was just masterfull!!
The only way to fix human errors like this:
Instant Replay - with one challenge allowed by each team per game.

The fix is in on this one. They could of got together and discuss with the other umpires.
You can't tell me that the second base umpire didn't see the play. He is watching the pitcher and would of had a better angle on the play. They didn't even talk about it with the other umpires. Someone high up must of had a big bet on the kid not getting the perfect game.

The umpire admits he blew the call. Come on MLB, do the right thing. The umpiring is really sad these days.

Seriously, the commissioner should rule it a perfect game. He has the power to do whatever he wants. Oh wait, befuddled Bud is the commish.

Just horrible! I'm sorry but no apology would fix this if I were Gallaraga.

And the ump that ejected Roy Oswalt is set to repremanded too...

The Officials Union better not go forward with a strike at this juncture...'cause I wouldn't let any of them back in!

If the commissioner doesn't over turn it, its not gonna be pretty for that umph.

And that Umph should be sent to the eye doctor ASAP.
