I already talked with Chuck Mallett at www.mallettcars.com and I have secured the first Z/28 in his shop for mods! I have seen what Chuck has done with the LSA's in the CTS-V's. Considering the current Camaro is lighter than the CTS-V the car should move out very well with a little help from the Mallett team now located in North Carolina.

As an owner of a 1969 Z/28, I lean toward keeping the car stock. Like you, however, I am not against some modifications. I would recommend that you keep ALL original parts. That way, you or other future owners can always restore to original equipment.

There are yes and no questions, and then there are questions where the only answer is yes.

Absolutely!! I prefer mostly stock with small mods but you really should keep all the original parts so it can be put back to strictly stock. One need only watch a few Barrett-Jackson auctions to see that usually a well equipped, numbers matching, all original car usually goes for more than a highly modded one of the same year/make/model.

If I get an LSA Z28 my plans are headers/exhaust, CAI, tune and pulley. That should make it really fun!

Stock sucks... No matter how good a car is from the factory, it can always be better. They build the cars as a starting point, not so that it is perfect for everybody. I say mod the hell out of it if you want to. If you dont want to mod it, dont get mad when it isnt turning heads because it looks and runs like all the others on the road.

Welcome to the forum!! I for one will only do light mods as well. If it comes out anything close to that Motor Trend picture, it'll be close to exactly what I want. I for one, cannot wait to see the options list for this puppy!

Welcome! I know when I buy a used sports/muscle car, I always look for the words, "All numbers match". What they did before they put it up for sale - who knows? If you are interested in resale value, just don't mod it to the point of no return. If you are going to keep it forever, turn it into a monster if it makes you happy. Each has it's own reward.

I think you should do whatever you want... If you plan on keeping it till it becomes a classic and then decide to sell it keep it stock and don't drive it much. But if you plan on keeping it for yourself to enjoy then do what you want to it and drive it.

HI.

Welcome.

Heck Yeah, and the last mod will be extra bright taillights for the pony drivers to gaze upon.

Build your car for the love of it.

I am not against Mods and like what a lot of the owners have done to their cars. (Some are a little over the top for my tastes). For instance if you did not like the exhaust on the Z28 would that be an o.k. Mod to make... Thanks for such a wonderful site Camaro5!!!
Heck yes! It should be no more capable of handling mods' than SS; maybe even a little better if it goes the way I hope it does. I would totally feel comfortable with bolt-ons in this car; tuning will be a must also. I'm thinking CAI, CB, and pulley (if it comes FI) should do it.

Anything else would be dependent on options available, I hate to admit it but if the Z28 isn't factory supercharged, I may kick myself for not already having an 2SS/RS. I would be remiss as well for not having a 2SS/RS already if the Z28 doesn't have coil-overs as standard equipment too. I suppose I am expecting a lot out of the Z28, however I'd assume a 50K+- price tag to go with it.
I'm hoping I can get Z28 so I won't have to mod' as much as I would with SS to get to where I'd like to go. It'd be nice to get something from GM pretty close to where my goal, ultimately, is, and having a warranty behind the car would be pretty nice. Most, if not all, of my mod' money would go into Z28 anyways, lol.

Again thanks for all the feedback.. After thinking and reading these posts I think my best plan is to modify and enjoy the car... If I want an investment then look at something else than a Car.. Of course if the car turns out to be a good investment than that is a bonus... I will keep the parts that are replaced, just in case... Ready, Set, WAIT!!! On your mark, Get set, WAIT!!!

Ha! What an impatient people we have become.

The much awaited new Camaro has only been out a year, and we're already asking if we would mod a car that hasn't even been produced yet.

Well for me, I've become a stickler for not taking a chance on violating a 5/60 powertrain warranty with non-GM approved parts. Nothing will go on my car unless it's GMPP and it's approved for the street ...

If the Z/28 comes out setup right there should not be much to mod. She should be a hell raiser. I would tint the windows of my Yellow Z/28, put on my Camaro5 Decals and my personal tag. LUV2ROC

Then in 2 years or so see what proven mods there are and have fun!!
