I agree withHDDAN, they are all good cars. I really believe this kind of incremental improvements are a benefit to us the consumers.

So what if Ford, improved the Mustang. Good for them. It motivates GM to improve the Camaro.

My goodnesa, are we all that thin skinned?

It's called competition in the marketplace. Plain and simple.

I would love to have one of each in my garage.

I'm happy to see an improved Mustang. I'm disappointed to see that the level of support for such an improvement is so high that companies like Motor Trend will hype up an inferior product to the point of rating it above products that are easier to drive, more comfortable, offer more features, and utilize superior technology. The 5.0L engine is great. Don't tell me that live axle is better than my IRS. I doubt that GM would get the same sort of support out of the same restrained effort.

I read it and I was surprised by their criticism, especially to the Camaro V6, this same car last year on Road and Track (their sister magazine) was very well reviewed and described with words such as "agile", "nible" and "fun to drive" now after only one year the car has suddenly became, heavy and pig and the Korean Genesis is a more fun to drive car than both Camaro and Mustang!! I stopped actually taking any of Motor Trend's or Road Track's reviews into consideration for purchasing or buying a vehicle, I test drive myself and I buy what I like. I tested the V6 Camaro and the 2011 V6 Mustang (3.7 liter engine) and I walked away from the Ford dealer back to the Chevy dealer and I placed my order.

you know Ford has been itching to put an independent rear under the mustang (less the 99/01/03-04 Cobras) for years now? they had every intention of putting an IRS in the 05+ cars as well...however it was the outpouring of Mustang fans and buyers who convinced them not to. im glad Ford listened to who really matters...the consumer.
Judging by the times ive seen listed on here, it would seem that Chevy shouldve gone the solid axle route as well (as long as it wasnt that shitty 10 bolt)

And the Mustang V6 tested is the one equipped with the PERFORMANCE PACKAGE, which includes gears, strut bar, GT brakes and GT suspension for $1999.99 extra, put the same component with the same price on the V6 Camaro and let's see whos gonna be kicking ass all day long! and no the RS package cannot be compared to the Performacne Package of the Mustang because the RS is mostly a visual package (except for the added grip coming from the P zeros)

They probably didn't mention it because it's really a non-issue for 99% of the buyers comparing the two cars. Non-enthusiast buyers are simply looking at handling and ride quality. If you have driven both, as I have, and are completely objective in your opinions, you will realize that there's really not enough difference between the two car in those areas to make a difference despite the avenue each manufacturer took to get them there.

You are absolutely right! What GM order code do would one choose for the Camaro that will get them those options? What? GM does not offer a similar performance package for the V6 Camaro? That sucks.

The fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter what would happen if GM did offer a similar package, because they don't. It's like saying what kind of comments would the Mustang get if it had an IRS under it. Pointless.

I hear you. When the Camaro was first coming out MT featured the car many times in articles and on he cover. It is the nature of the business. It's cyclical.

Not saying that the live axle is better than the IRS. But, there is a price we pay for the IRS and it is added weight. It also seems to bring out a lot of people on here who would have preferred a live axle on our Camaros, primarilly for Drag Racing purposes.

Regardless, I think we need to embrace them all. Anytime the Detroit Three bring to market cars like this, during these times, I have to applaud them.

It isn't easy meeting all of the various safety and performance standards in today's world. Especially the tightening Fuel Economy standards. We will see some drastic changes in the not-too-distant future because of all of this.

To GM, Ford and Chrysler - I hope that with the changing view of automobiles, you don't forget the enthusiast community, of which I can say I am a part of.
