"Pending Engineering Validation"... uh oh...

as an engineer... that even scares me ...

haha it's probably taking so long because all the engineers at GM are on Camaro5 like me. we tend to get offices with internet access and it ruins our productivity haha

Absolutely! And, may I add, in my case, mine doesn't rattle and vibrate like some have seemed to encounter.

I installed a Hurst in mine but I just did a search and read an install on the MGW shifter and that really looks like a jam up unit.

Too bad this option couldn't be installed by the dealer. Or at least when it becomes available they could swap in the Hurst Shifter in place of the stock one.

Top photos are the Hurst shifter that was supposed to be installed at factory for 2010 but didn't happen. Bottom photo is the aftermarket Hurst shifter that can be bought and installed now.

Certainly different, but the aluminum bracing is already in the M6, you just pull the boot down and undo the clips and reuse the brace. It appears the actual knob and shift shaft is different.

Not arguing, just not sure they arent essentially the same thing, just the Hurst aftermarket kit only has the shifter and knob and the GM one makes you purchase it all assembled with the brace. I do like the GM Hurst knob better though

How is it a jam up unit? It functions flawlessly...much better than the factory crap. No vibration, and you can feel the car when your shifting. Guess the factory stuff is the typical "the average joe will like it" and leave it to us to add something worth while.

I have been researching this MGW unit and it definitely looks like a quality piece. If I decide to drop this Hurst option in a few weeks that looks like the shifter to go with! Decisions, decisions.

They should just drop the whole Hurst option and be done with it.. My money is on you waiting a lot more than 4 weeks for that option.
You'd be surprised what you have to go through. We've had many conversations in here about aftermarket parts and suppliers. They now have to meet GM's stringent requirements.

As a manager in GM's Validation Department I can tell you there is nothing to be afraid of.

SO, Number 3 is it safe to assume that the 4 week time frame on this option is a good measure?!
