“The last car came off the assembly line at 9:04 a.m. on August twenty-seventh of two thousand and two,” he says. “The reason I know was that I as standing in the parking lot of a funeral home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, burying my favorite uncle who had been a wonderful mentor to me growing up. They had asked us not to come out to the plant because it was a very emotional day for a lot of the people there, but they called me and said, ‘well, it’s done’.”

OK this is REALLY CREEPY...

I was born at 9:04 am August 27th. Obviously the year is different, but this is CRAZY.

5th Gen Camaro book on Amazon

Available for pre-order; doesn't go on sale til April 09 but for those getting the first ones off the line, it might be a nice momento.
"Product Description -When Chevrolet entered the pony market in 1967, its Camaro looked like a winner--not just for the muscle car era but for all time. And it was the iconic Camaro, battling Ford’s Mustang for dominance, that once again jumpstarted flagging American performance in the 1980s. Now, after another lull and more missed chances, Chevrolet comes roaring back onto the muscle car scene with a Camaro for a new generation--a Camaro destined to be the next classic.

Camaro: A Legend Reborn chronicles the rebirth of this legendary car. With drawings and photographs of prototypes and pre-productions vehicles, and in interviews with engineers, designers, and key executives, the book follows each step of the process that led to Camaro’s triumphant return. And finally, jaw-dropping photographs of the new car at play on the street and on the track announce the arrival of the ultimate Camaro in no uncertain terms. "

I was skeptical at first, but after seeing its author is Edsall, I think I may just have to have it. And at under $20 you can't go wrong. Thanks, man.

Hey, where'd you end up ordering your car? Did you get MSRP?

Someone needs to tell the author that the stripes are not currently planned to look that good.

Sorry I simply could not resist....

^^^^ASSHOLE!!!

And I simply couldn't resist either.

EDIT: It really is quite pitiful that GM's "alleged" stripes advertising was carried to the point of a book chronicling the advent of the fifth generation Camaro depicting a never to exist car on it's cover.

I heard that the stripes will be longer on the convertible than on the hardtop. So COPO, just wait until the 'vert comes out. You will be fine.

I ordered a couple of copies from Amazon.ca (Canada - free shipping on orders over $35, so the 2nd copy was almost 50% off).

We had the opportunity to meet Larry at Milford this past May when he interviewed the Disciples for the book.

Be interesting to find out if/how he worked us into the story!

Best regardSS,

Elie

I'm down in St. Mary's near the Pax Naval Air Station and let Ken Dixon take $2500 from me. Good for you, though! We're gonna be two of the few for awhile around here driving Camaros. Dixon hasn't sold their 5 pre-orders yet, as of two weeks ago.

Camaro A Legend Reborn - Book Update

Email from Scott.

Quote:
Good evening, Camaro Comrades and Firebird Friends..........

As most of you know, our Good Friend Larry Edsall is the author of the newest Camaro book:

>>>>CAMARO - A LEGEND REBORN<<<<<

.........and I know many of you have pre-ordered.

This is an in-depth look at how the 5th gen was born -- the many starts and stops -- and an insider's view on how great cars are designed, engineered, and built.

You might be interested to know that the BOOK has its own MySpace page -- as well as a photo gallery.

For those of you who have not yet ordered -- you may want to take a look -- this is a book I know every one of you will want to read.............
