The Grand AM GT Camaros got a 150#/Corvette got 100# reduction in weight for yesterdays race. They are going to be a lot more competative now. I see checked flags in the future, hopefully this year but definitly next year.

I hate these racing series how they penalize a good car by adding weight and engine modifications to try and level the plaing field. He's almost as bad as how they give all the kids in school athletics a medal or how they don't keep score in school gym classes anymore. This is a meritocracy, and if one company makes a better car then it deserves to win.

That Camaro looks sweet on TV though. Nice to see it handle so well.

Says up there that it will be on TV the 26th. Will someone be recording and uploading it? I'm in Europe so I can't watch it. I'm sure others would be happy to see it as well .

Send a message via AIM to MBellRacing
http://www.racing-underground.com/ will likely have it the day after the race for download if you have the software for it.

Thanks for all the support guys! The race should be interesting to see on TV. We were [essentially] missing our front sway bar from lap 1 which meant LOTS of sideways action! Jeff Bucknum and I definitely had an exciting time trying to stay competitive in such a crippled car-- something of a testament to the development that has gone into this new platform by both GM and Stevenson Motorsports.

These cars are very far from their street representation to begin with. In the GT series RX8s run against SS Camaros. In a strictly street contest that'd be a contest between a 189 HP car and a 400+ HP. No contest. But the GT class 8s run NA 3 rotor peripheral ported engines that have pretty much never seen production which put out around 420HP (for the speedsource 8, anyway). Beautiful engine, which only costs somewhere above the price of a 2SS.
