I want to make sure the salesman didn't give you the wrong info. The guage cluster comes on the 2LT and 2SS...has nothing to do with the RS.

The RS pkg includes the following:
-paint matched roof ditch molding.
-tinted tail light lens (although it's so minor you'll only see if you have a non-RS next to it).
-HID headlights.
-Midnight Silver wheels.
-Red SS badging (white for non-RS)

You can not buy the MS wheels as an add on. You must buy the RS pkg to get them. However, the MS wheels seem to be the most popular wheels for sale. If you want them that bad you can buy a take-off set, switch tires, sell your factory silver wheels and you'll probably only be out a few hundred when it's all said and done. You can probably have your silver wheels powder coated as well. I've seen them for as cheap as $60 a wheel.

What is it about the HID you don't like? Is it the look of the Halo rings vs the Halogens? I ask because I don't really like the look of the Halo vs Halogen. I think the Halogen housing looks more retro. However, I did want HID lights so I bought a Bi-Xenon HID aftermarket kit for $260 shipped and had it put on in about 30 min. I LOVE the HID lights compared to Halogen. I just didn't like the look of the Halo rings nearly as much.

If you want the colored roof ditch molding....again, that's something that can be painted when you're ready. There is some posts in the Cosmetic section where people have already done it.

If you want tinted tail lights you can have those added by overlaying vinyl on them. I think BigWorm sells them. They'll be much more noticable that way as well.

So....what color are you planning on getting. Give us more detail as to what exactly you do/don't like on the RS pkg.
Yea I was aware of what the rs package entailed. I know that only the 1LT and the 2SS come with the 4-pack gauge cluster but that gm offers it here for 600 dollars installed. As far as color I'm not solidly decided yet but I'm leaning towards black with silver stripes and black leather. The only thing I do not like on the rs is the hids. It is a cosmetic thing for me, I think the halogens look much better. Unless the halogens don't light the road sufficiently I don't need hids anyways. I do want the 4pack gauge cluster though.

My 1SS came with polished wheels, but we wanted the painted wheels instead. Our dealer had 6 pairs in stock and swaped them out. They also removed the wheel package from the price.

I am sure you can swap your HIDs for someone else's regular lights if you get the RS package.

Good luck and enjoy!

1LT does not come with guage pack. Only the 2LT and 2SS. Again....guage pack has nothing to do with the RS pkg.

If you get a black one then the painted roof ditch is meaningless. It will be black either way.

The tinted tail lights are so minimal that you can barely see the difference when standing beside a non-RS.

So...sounds like the MS wheels is the biggest issue. I'm sure you can find a set of MS wheels that were take offs or you might even consider having the factory wheels powdercoated black or charcol gray. Still cheaper than the cost of the RS pkg.

BTW: not that the Halogens are bad but if you ever have HID you won't want to go back. I switched my Halogens for HID and LOVE it! Best thing is that I can go back to Halogen easily if I want.

Take the plunge and get the 2SS/RS. It's worth it. There is so much more to a 2SS and I do believe that the resale on them with be good.

Order a 2SS without the RS package.

Powder coat the wheels if desired...

Sounds like a non-RS 2SS is a good match .

I'd recommend the 2SS personally. Just go for it man, that monthly payments won't change a whole lot...

Woops meant 2LT and yeah it has nothing to do with the RS package. Just saying it's another thing that is not included on the 1SS. So the 2SS is probably what's going to be purchased heh.

Honestly I always had a soft spot for the Camaro but I figured i'd look at all my options. The GT has no comparison and while the R/T is nice the R/T isn't really able to keep up with the SS. Now onto my real question, what would be more expensive? The 2SS has options that I don't really need but i'd like to have leather and at the same time I like everything on the RS package except for the HIDs. So basically if I got a 1SS i'd like to get leather in it (if it's possible to order it) and a RS package but without the HIDs. Or is it just cheaper to get a 2SS and get all those options anyways I don't necessarily need but get in the package? Sorry if I don't seem very logical in this area as this will be my first time buying a new car let alone possibly ordering one.
I had some small issues w/ spending the extra money for the 2ss on options that I really did not need but I originally wanted the sunroof and also wanted the leather, my dealer said they could do aftermarket leather one the 1ss for another $1000. Before ordering, I did some research and discovered a significant loss of headroom w/ the sunroof, I opted to give up the sunroof and go w/ the 2ss. It all balanced out for me.
