I'd throw that hacked up stuff in the garbage.

If your want to stay stock, put a wanted ad out for a complete uncut L99 OE catback system. Tons of them out there for a couple hundred bucks.

You'll spend the same trying to weld back together a cut up mess that in the end will still be a hack job.

Or a complete aftermarket catback and tuning device to kill the AFM when funds permit.

You can spend around $350-$400 to get a handheld or dyno tune. In the long run you'll probably be better of spending the money on that. The tune on the L99's transmission is supposed to make a world of difference as well. So, not only will you fix your sound you'll get a significant perfromance increase.

I like the idea about getting a handheld tuner to disable the AFM. As far as the tune itself, I see these things come with tunes for different octane for example, 93, would using one of those tunes make a big difference in the tone of the exhuast in general? Obviously, disabling the AFM would help.

No....I don't think it will change the tone of your exhaust.

What I would do is talk to one of the guys over at Janetty racing. They are extremely knowledgable and can get you fixed up with a custom tune. You would basically put in a canned tune and then log your car for about 50-100 miles. Download that log and email it to Janetty. He would then make some tweaks and email you back an new custom tune. He can give you all the details.

You might find a hendheld tuner a little cheaper somewhere else but you'll more than make up for the difference in knowledge and customer support.

Just get new mufflers for the back ... there are many choices out there .. from loud to quiet. another thing is those stock mufflers will also take on water ..

Just stick some Magnaflow mufflers in the back and an x-pipe and it should quiet it down. I have Magna-muffs (<--hehehe...) and an x-pipe and I don't notice when the AFM kicks in. Good tone to it too!

Just go have a X-Pipe put in after the CATS. It will quit it down and you will gain alot of lost TRQ and HP to the rear wheels back. The Resonator has a H-Pipe effect inside of it and you lost engine balance and cylinder scavenging when he took it out.

Believe me I did that to mine and she sounded mean but to loud and the loss of power was not fun.

Seems reasonably priced and sounds pretty good. I know I'm going to have to get the AFM tuned out at some point.

You should post in the V6 section. There are a couple out there. I think Flowmaster is a popular one but I don't watch the V6 stuff that much.
