Of course they are doing it because of cash not to upset customers.
I think they are just gonna wait and see if it sells well. The vert is dependent on the 1st year LS and LT sales right now IMO*. Everything depends on moving the low end cars in good numbers. Just to get more on the road and help start a "hot car" trend. |

I always wanted a vert, I have a 97ss t-tops now. I settled for T-tops back then i guess I'll have to settle for sunroof now. If no one notice, the wait went from 6 moths , 9 months , 1 year, 1 1/2 years to 2 years now. Anyone see a trend. I'd hate to wait another 6 months to a year then they delay it longer or cancel it all together. worst comes to worse if you really want one you'll drive a coupe 2 to 3 years before trading it in or waiting for the next remodelling year to see what that brings. Everyone should be reminded this car will probably be in the same remodeling schedule as the mustang every 4 to 5 years. You may like the next one even better the way GM designers are designing cars now. the next design if the vert is reinstated should not have the wait this one had. Don't get me wrong im really really pissed but what are you going to do, bitch and moan or get on with it.

I think you guys are right. Very good points made here. I think it makes a lot of sense to go ahead and get a coupe to feed the 5th Gen need right now. I do think I will wait untill next fall and see what kind of other options might be available by then. I am glad I posted this, it has made me look at it in a diffrent way. Before I was just mad. Now maybe I'll get two 5th Gens out of it! Thanks for the great advice!

I really wanted a convertable. In fact if I could've gotten a convertable my wife would have traded in her 05 crossfire that we own...sizeable down payment.....but I think I will still get a coupe and hopefully get a convertable in a couple years. Still haven't decided totally. If the goverment gives the cash infusion the convertable maybe moved back up.

You think? I just read a review of the 414hp M3 convertible with an as-tested price of $77,970 and a curb weight without driver of 4145 pounds. The automotive press should stop praising BMWs and just state the obvious: all BMWs are overpriced and not one is worth the money. You should only buy American and not even consider any foreign car brands anyway!

What I don't understand is this. Malibu and Impala. Get rid of one of these vehicles. (Do we really need both?) Trailblazer...get rid of it (Especially with the Traverse out now!) Look at the amount of competition the Camaro Convertible would have. ONE CAR! The Mustang 'Vert is really its only competition. Give the people that want this type of vehicle a selection! Priced right, styled right, and marketed right...Chevy and Ford could rule the market in this category! Do they really need a 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup? Seems logical to get rid of the 2500. Also, do they need the Avalanche? This is just Chevy. I have another question....why is Saab even around anymore? Or Hummer for that matter.

I agree though, there are some very repetitive models out there, not only w/ Chevy/GM, but with almost all automakers... |

With the economy the way it is I was thinking of waiting for summer 2011 anyway so I’ll probably just wait (assuming GM makes it).
If it doesn’t I’m not sure maybe an S5 or M3 convertible (should be out soon/is out now) although that may not have depreciated enough to be affordable. Otherwise a used 335i convertible. |

Personally I have a unfounded faith in our Government to do the right thing to help our Auto industry hold out for a while longer.
I also have faith in GM to pull through this.
