They do if it causes more load on the transmission do to a HP or torque increase. Besides your missing the point all together. All I'm saying is if he chooses to go down the road of playing hard ball ,don't be surprised if they use his mods as an out.

I'd be surprised if they fought you over the lemon law. I have been having a problem with a noise noise on the passenger side door in my car. Taken it in twice to one dealership and now a 3rd time to another. Luckily this new dealership seems to be more knowledgeable and actually looked up a service bulletin relating to an issue like this. The regional GM service representative is actually coming to meet me and personally oversee the repair due to the fact that if the problem is not fixed I could technically demand a lemon exchange (even though I would never do that given the amount of money i've put into my car). I believe the rule (here in AZ anyway) is that if you bring a car in for the same problem 3 times and there is STILL an issue, you can call it a lemon.

It's part of that "just-in-time" supply for the assembly line... the current demand exceeds the projected supply

The manufacturer would have to PROVE the problem was caused by mods to the car.

And you can lemon law a car for a single problem in most states. If the car is at the dealer for x amount of days, no matter how many or few problems, the car can be lemoned in many states.

It's not that I'm trying to screw them I am just fed up with the whole problem. Having to deal with returning the rental every time I leave and find rides then have to do the paper work to get a new rental...plus the dealer not even telling what's wrong with the car and keeping me on the hook by saying oh it will be fixed by this time then by this time and before you know it 16 days have gone by. It seems they do not know what the problem is and just guessing and replacing parts until it's fixed.

I don't think he's trying to screw them. How would you feel in his shoes. I know I would be pissed to have a brand new car sitting in the shop for over two weeks without any answers.

Was it like a clunking sound? I had taken my car into the dealership recently and never heard that sound until after i got my car back. It doesnt happen all the time but it worries me because i never heard it before.

I know how you feel, my car has been in the shop for two weeks now with a bad drive shaft. Was told that the parts were being over nighted then three days later told they were on back order, could be at last another week. Starting to think that it was worse than they thought and they just dont want to tell me.
And unless you change the program or open the motor/transmision they will honor the drive train warranty. Not that it matered with mine as it was bone stock with 4000 mi.

I would, however, either call or go to the dealer demanding reasons for the long wait.
Not really. I had a 98 Z28 that was bought back under the lemon law and it only had one problem. The check engine light kept coming on and when the dealer read the code it gave a bad O2 sensor on bank 2. Well after atleast 30 days, changing the computer, O2 sensor, and the top half of the engine several times they finally had the engineers look at it. This usually takes place in about 6 months but the dealer pushed through because my wife and I were using the car in pics for our wedding.

Not really. It was more of a rattling type noise when playing music with lots of base of if there is anything causing vibration in the car (even really strong wind will do it). At first I thought it was the door speaker but that wasn't it. I tried telling them that it wasn't the speaker the second time I took it in but they just replaced the speaker again anyway (which of course did not solve the problem). I think I found out what it is. The plastic piece around the button to open/close the window seems to be somehow loose because when I hold my hand on that piece the noise goes away. I told this to the new dealership I took it to last week and they said they would look into it but they also found that there is a service bulletin posted that if a customer complains about a noise from the door that they are supposed to not only replace the speaker but also an amp in the door. The original dealership never did this so they are going to replace the amp for me first and then look at that plastic piece.

My Solstice was in 25 times for warranty work. Many of them miultiple repairs of the same problem. Lemon law in AZ did not apply, so I traded it in on the Camaro. The Lemon laws seem to be written to just be pablum to pacify the public, not provide real assistance.
