Since I will be replacing the stock seats with the STATUS Spas I will need a good resistor kit to make sure that the SRS system still works properly. Recaro actually makes a universal kit for this type of application. I will be getting one of those.

I'm thinking of going a different route with the seats. The STATUS seats are really nice, but come at a cost. Which I realize sometimes you just have to pay for quality.
I've been looking at Corbeau Seats, the TRS and CR1 both seem to be good seats and I can have a submarine hole added to run a 5 point harness, I can also get seat heaters and lumbar support with all hardware for half the price. Pics of the seats are below. I need to go and have some seat time to know for sure if I like them. I'm still thinking these are the way to go. I can have the upholsterer at AltAuto redo the stitching to Orange to match the rest of the car. Once I make the order I'll post up which route I'm going. I wish they made after markets seats with side airbags. TRS CR1 I'm looking into other options as well, like Recaro and Cobra. Those are premium seats at a premium cost and so far it seems Corbeau is the only one that will do the submarine hole on a reclining seat. |

I was really into the Recaro Sporster CS as it state on their site that you can get Universal side airbags installed. However when I called they said no. Weird.
I also like the Sport topline as it has a lot of adjustability and is power vs manual, but no airbag. For those that might be wondering why I'm worried about side airbags... The reason being the added safety when not on the track. Most likely I won't have a side impact on the track, but I see the track 3-4 time annually, the rest of the time is shows and around town. It's never bad to have the added safety. Again, I wish they made this more of an option. So part of me has been really struggling to make the call on ditching the stock seats for better seats, but loss of airbags. There always the possibility of the angel pads and a CG lock, but I like the idea of having 1-3 inches of more headroom. Decisions... Decisions... |

I hear ya, still an option but I'm mainly wanting the additional support. Still a toss up depending on the angel pad research. Could be a good option.
I was thinking the same thing since its not a DD for me as well. The Status seats are about 4500 including brackets, sliders, embroidery, etc. actually not a horrible price for what you're getting, but against the price of Corbeaus its about half. Plus a sub hole on a reclining seat. |

So, I'm leaning more to going this route (stock seats reupholstered). Not only will it cost much less but since I track the car just a few times a year via HPDEs I'm going to try the Angel Pads and a CG lock and see how that goes. This way I retain factory side airbags and have a good blend of show and go. If this were a dedicated track car I'd go seats and beyond.
Now, I just need to figure out which combo, color, and material for the reupholster. Most likely will go Katzkin. It's funny how the seats have become the toughest decision in my build decisions. |

I'm surprised that SLP would allow you to have your car Transformed into a full blown ZL770 with the way they seem overly concerned with the collector/Numbers built stuff. Look forward to seeing some finished pics, should be pretty awesome!

They are very strict on collectors numbers and their specialty cars which is great for ZL owners. Knowing that we do hold on to several things and full builds that are very unique. I can see how it gets frustrating sometimes to folks wanting to buy misc parts like the hood and diffuser. The sequential numbering is by build year and happens in the order of production not the order of ZL. For instance my number is 17, the next person that ordered a ZL of any kind 427/585/600 etc would be 18. They cap it annually at 250 or less. Depending on how many orders they receive. Their initial 5th gen Pilot car was a 770 build that hit the standing mile record. After many long talks, emails, etc. I decided to go the ZL770 route. SLP and AltAuto worked on building the first ZL770 for their Dream Car Giveaway. It was gorgeous and beastly. So I talked with both my SLP rep and Altauto about doing a Tribute edition with mine and making it the 2nd ZL770. I'm pretty excited about this and I've been extremely involved in all the particulars for the build. I look forward to this being completed. |
