Cool

Ok, I've done the backseat and door armrests. My wife loves it (and thought she would hate it). Perhaps it the perfectionist in me just knowing there is there micro remnants of yellow dye around my stitching, makes me feel like I could have done better. I knew this was going to happen but hoped that the wipe down would have got it all. Overall without dropping loads of cash for custom stitching... Looks pretty damn good! I'll upload some pic of the completed job when I'm done.

I saw another post here somewhere where a guy had done the stitching on cloth.

If you look at my pics... The side of the lower portion of the backseat is not leather. It came out nice but up close I can see some fine yellow residue in the fabric. If you face is not right up there you can't tell. Your call!

No but there is some leather stitching, Steering wheel for example that you can dye if you're inclined to do so

If I ever get Leather Seats on my car I'll have them do an Orange stitching and then I'll dye the other white stiching inside my car. That's my plan anyway...

Right... Like I said earlier the stitching on the lower outer side of the back seat IS NOT leather... I did it with satisfactory results. See my pics! Mind you I took the back seat out for ample access.

I could just imagine it bleeding into the black and completely screwing it up . It's worth a shot if you plan on replacing it with leather if it doesn't work out...

For you golfers out there, some of the guys in my golf discussion forum use to do this to their Scotty Cameron putter covers.

HOWEVER - they use to bleach the threads using a Q-Tip and Clorox bleach before adding the color. Bleaching the threads turned them white (obviously) and they could then dye the threads any color they wanted.

I know this would not matter on the seats, steering, and shift knob threads, but if you wanted to change your SS or RS on the headrest to any color you wanted, bleach them out first for a clean slate.

Here's a thread about it.....

The dye stitching looks great,
I think I will do it, but in considering what type of marker to use (elmers, fabric paint etc) Im wondering about just using a
regular red ink ball point pen
especially since its got the best fine tip. Is there a reason no one has mentioned that? Is there something Im not realizing? Any advice is appreciated .
Thanks Guys

Pen ink my fade in sun. I used Fabric Dye Pen. Got it at Joann's Fabric store. Can give specifics later, if necessary.

From my observation, I think Elmer's provides the best coverage. If applied correctly, the red is a true red and not pink. To your point (no pun intended) of wanting to use a small tip, Elmer's also comes in a fine tip version as shown in the attached photo.

The tip shown is white because I took the photo before it was used.
