Motiva has done more FI Camaro's than anyone else.... I have my problems with them, but they did get my car over 600rwhp.

If you are going to go with turbo you might give them a call beforehand. They had a fallout with Hellion so they might have a good suggestion. Overall they did a good job with my tune. Both Squirrel and I installed our own chargers and then had motiva do the tunes. Motiva has also tuned the most pwerfull 5th gen in the state as well (around 800rwhp).

Thanks for the info, I knew Hellion did the custom turbo systems, but I am planning on either going with the Turbonetics T76 or the new HPS single turbo system and installing it myself anyway. I will call them ahead of time and make sure Motiva will tune it with the meth kit, as I woulden't install the turbo without the added insurance the meth provides.

Im taking most of friday off also lol. I need to install my exhaust before we make the run to Ruidoso.

They will tune for the Meth, they just say they "do not suggest it", which makes me a little skeptical if I should have them tune....Not that they would, but I would hate to hear a "told you so" if my motor goes BOOOOOMMMM....

They also told me my rear o2 ports were turned off and that was not true. I unplugged one (at their suggestion) for my wideband gauge and it made my car run like crap. Had to put it back and car ran great again.

Overall I am happy with Motiva and would suggest you go their. As I said before, I know they have done a lot more F/I on 5th gens than anyone else.

After my install i'm not surprised they don't want to do it again. It takes a lot of work to get it right. Me and Dave had some late nights at the shop working on it.

Do you guys happen to know about how much it costs for one of their tunes, I know it probably varies depending on the time they have to spend, but I am still debating if its worth buying the canned tunes that come with these kits or the dyno tune.

You are probably correct that it varies but when I called them they quoted me a price and stuck to it... Mine was $600.

While I always read great reviews of the janetty tunes I will tell you this: at the last Motiva dyno day there was a guy with a 5th gen that came from Santa Fe. I don't think he is on this forum (or maybe he just lurks), but he came down and got it line. I spoke to him a bit and he was hoping to make around 400 as he had all the regular boltons (headers, intake, cat delete, exhaust, etc). He was told by Janetty that he should be around there with his XCT tune he purchased for about $200. Well, he got his turn on the dyno and first pull was 330rwhp and the car ran so lean that Motiva said they would not let him do his other 2 pulls.

As I am sure you are aware, running lean can blow your engine pretty easily. To me paying the extra $400 for a real tune that is performed on a dyno is worth every cent. This way you know for a fact what power you make and you know it is safe.

I had taken my car to the dyno 3 times now and my AFR has been nice and safe. The lowest is reads is 11.8 at full boost.

Here are my numbers:
550rwhp @ 5.5psi, 538tq (3.6 pulley) - dyno'd at Motiva
608rwhp @ 8psi, 596tq (3.2 pulley) - dyno'd at Motiva
579 rwhp @ 7psi, 573tq (3.3 pulley) - dyno'd at dyno edge

Stock headers, stock cats. Rotofab intake, Corsa exhaust with no-weeds diverters (open). That's it....

I pullied back up 1 size due to snapping 2 belts. I think what was happening was I was getting a lot of belt slip, then it would catch and break the belt. I am looking into an 8 (or even 10) rib pulley system to get rid of the slippage so I can go back to the smaller pulley.

I will warn you that Motiva has told me that 600rwhp is the max for our fuel system. Anything higher and you will need to get a nice fuel pump ($1000) and new injectors. I would assume this is the same for turbo.

Hope that helps some? I highly suggest a real dyno tune just for the piece of mind that you know exactly where you are in your AFR's. The guy from Santa Fe had no idea he was close to breakIng his engine...

Wow, thats actually a lot cheaper than I expected . The T76 kit I was looking at knocks the price up 1000 bucks if I go with there generic tune for the system.

Being the stock bottom end I may try and get it up to 600rwhp on the dyno, but in all reality I will probably back the boost off and run it around 550 most of the time.

I know you said you were going to install yourself. We're you planning on putting the car on a trailer to take it to get tuned? I bought the "tuner" package with my Maggie that also bumped the price up about a grand but I needed to run on the mail tune for a couple of days and then drive to Motiva to get the real tune. I have an SCT tuner that I used to get by for those few days. I would think you would still need that in order to drive the car to get tuned?

A flat bed tow is probably going to pe a lot cheaper than a tuner. But if it's an SCT they can laod mulitple tunes on it.

Yea, I would trailer it, its not my daily driver so it would not be an issue if I even had to let it sit for a week or so before I got it up there.

I can attest to the tow being a lot cheaper than a tuner. I think I only paid $800 for the last car trailer I bought.

Do you happen to know if you can store the Motiva tune on an SCT, it would be nice to have as a backup if I ever need to replace the computer or something.

not sure about the storing of tunes. I might have to ask them as well... They use HP Tuners not SCT, but I think when you plugin the SCT it stores the tune that the car is currently running?
