But they also know it is my own little therapy too. I was hoping to take Orange Krate out this weekend but they are predicting rain and snow down to 1000' elevation here in So Cal!!!! Who would have thought? It is raining now and will get heavier this evening. I am going to use the indoor time to catch up on some office work at the house and collect up all my Camaro stuff and re-organize it.

On a separate note...I love Alabama! Spent some time down there in 1994 after Hurricane Ivan came through Holly-Navarre Beach area. We staged at Fort Rucker and then drove down to Florida and set up medical operations at a Winn Dixie Shopping Center right along the beach. While in Alabama, all the folks were extremely friendly, helpful and compassionate. It speaks well of the State. Perhaps that is why the band "Alabama" is one of my favorites of all time.

Cheers to you, your family and the great people of Alabama!
Appreciate the kind words Jim. If you get a chance stop by this thread and you will see where my delusions started.

Jim,
Found your dream Schwinn Orange Krate today! Never ridden 72', with the coveted rear disc brake, in Kool Orange (same as Hugger Orange)-(last year for Krate was 73' which came in a more red/pinkish Sunset Orange)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nos-1...#ht_500wt_1182

Oh, by the way....Seller offering 72 month financing on this baby....

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Just think the bike cost about 1/4 of a new SS Camaro!!! Unreal. What if our Camaros.... nah nevermind, my SS isn't going in the attic for 40 years! LOL That is one creampuff Orange Krate for sure. Had I not just bought my car and a truck for my daughter I might just break down and make the guy an offer. Thanks for sending! Who would have thought a Schwinn bike would be worth so much.

Jim, I just about fell to the floor when I saw the asking price....In reality, there is no way he'll get that. I would venture to guess that he'll be very lucky to get 4-5k for it. If you ever want a really minty Krate, well-restored ones can be had for around 1200-1500, and disc versions for 2000-2500. I had ambition to build up my own restored Orange a few years back, and started to buy up parts (see attached pic), but ran low on funds and patience..lol. BTW, the one-year stik shift featured on 68' Krates, as in pic, will the ball knob, is thee shifter to have on your future Krate!

Thanks Doc! I know that our money won't be wasted. I want to do more for our Vets that are disabled and need help. Too many are now homeless on the streets! That is just WRONG at so many levels.

Being a combat Veteran myself and having served in the Marine Corps, I truly understand what these men and women go through on a daily basis. It does my heart good to know that things like this go on to help thise in need.

Very nice! You and I think alike on that one. Even though I own a SS... I would not put that blower on my engine while under warranty. I am thinking of other ways to help these Vets here on the west coast too. Do you know that on any given night in Los Angeles there are 70,000-80,000 homeless on the streets and a good percentage are VETS!!! This is just WRONG!!!!

Hey Walt thanks for dropping by! I will copy this and PM it to you in the event you aren't subscribed to the thread. I appreciate your comments and please feel free to follow my thread.

Indianapolis is a neat town. I saw one of the wildest thunder and lightning storms when I was at a convention there in 1990. I got to make a circle around Indy and stand on the finish line when I was there with the American Ambulance Association's Fleet Management Conference.

I would love to retire but am not quite there yet, coming up on double nickels! I was a paid callmen years ago when I first started. I would still be in the fire department had I not got a back injury back (run over by a cop car!!!) in the early nineties. But life goes on and we do what we must, right? My middle name is Walter and my Dad went by "Walt" and he was a retired Fire Captain. One of my best friends is named Walt, so you are yet another good Walt to know! Fact is, I don't think I have ever known a bad one! HA HA

Hey if you ever want to hook up when/if you come out here, let me know. Maybe we can scrounge up some other So Cal Camaros and welcome you in to the fold for the duration! If you want me to take my car by your brother and give him something to drool over and think about til you get here... I can do that too. That would be fun. I could take a photo of your bro standing with Orange Krate and post it up for you! HA HA

NEW MODS ENROUTE FOR ORANGE KRATE

Orange Krate likes...

Orange Krate whispered in my ear and told me he wants LED license plate lights and LED Amber interior lights. So be it. AAC to the rescue. The LED packages should be here literally any day. I will update this link with photos after I install. I will do night shots of before and after. A little at a time!

Orange Krate is bugging me about his stripes! He is waiting for warmer weather to venture to a body shop. Just like me! What a coincidence.

Last night Orange Krate said he was also seriously thinking about the Sinister hood. He likes that look.

He lives up in the "Texas Tract" which is north east of my place by 5 miles. Just far enough to open the thermostat. Well I could get his attention by putting it in "competition mode" and laying down 1/4 of my tires up Travis starting from Walnut. In reality, Simi is not the best place to go crazy in a car because 1 of every 7 families here has either a cop or a fireman living under the roof from what I have been told! Most of them are from LA! Be safe out there. Still sucky weather here this week.
