also, i picked up some platic drop cloths from ace hardware for like a buck and some change, much better than using garbage bags or tons of tape. one sheet will pretty much cover your whole car.

Not yet. I should be doing them next weekend. Not this coming weekend but the next.
I was too busy to do them this past weekend. :(

Here's a couple shots I took with my phone at work this morning. The finish is a little rough in spots so I think it may need another coat. I know the stuff can be peeled off but I'd like to avoid that if I can. I think some of the roughness was from hitting areas too lightly on a pass. I was just afraid of going too slow and getting runs.
I don't think it turned out bad enough to need to be totally re-done but another coat might do the trick as long as I apply it evenly and completely.

Haha yeah I told my old man I had to put it on jack stands and he was suspicious at first. Don't forget you need to use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts back down to factory spec.

This stuff is amazing!
Friday I did the Camaro lettering, and GM badges. Looks factory. It's crazy how well this stuff peels off around emblems leaving clean edges. Today I painted the tail light bezels. Very pleased with the look! I'll post back with pics. |

My previous rant here was a bit long and ranty so I decided to fix it (which in a way, parallels the problems I had with the wheels).
Plasti-Dip is definately a fun and inexpensive way to try a new look so don't be afraid. On the same token, if you're a perfectionist about things, you may want to think real hard about what you're getting into before you go for it. My passenger side went fairly well, including the front which I posted a picture of before. Before I did the rear I decided to mask off the inside with tape and grocery bags to keep the inner well clean and that worked great too, just a bit more prep work. The driver's side looks ok but I did both on Saturday and things didn't go nearly as smoothly, literally, as they did before. I peeled and re-did the rear and probably should peel the front too. During the whole process on the driver's side I nicked the coat a few times, either by my finger, the can I was using, or my lug wrench, and even when it was done I thought it needed a quick blast to touch things up and the overspray from that made things look fuzzy and defeated the purpose of blocking off the inside. From a few feet back it looks great but I know each wheel has a unique set of issues and I may end up tossing the whole project. Which brings me to my question: What can you use to make removal easier, particularly overspray on the inside of the rims?
