I'm guessing that the Camaros that are going to the North East will be trucked out... if they're within a couple hundred miles.

But to the South... and the West, they're going out on rails.

Makes sense, right?

Yes, it makes sense. The rail vs truck decision seems to be based on two variables. 1) The distance the car has to go and 2) how many Camaros are heading to that same destination. Remeber it takes a lot less cars to fill up a truck carrier than it does fill up a whole railcar. Some destinations just won't have the volume to fill up a railcar. This is why we are seeing them "batch" the VIN numbers by destination so much. They will produce a big group of Texas (or MN, CA, IL, etc...) cars on one day to fill up the rail car. Hope that helps clear things up.

In an attempt to keep UCF's blood pressure under control......

I have updated the original post to reflect the fact that I no longer need requests to track individual VIN numbers. I am tracking ALL VIN numbers every day.

If your VIN doesn't show up on the spreadsheet I am sorry, you will have to rely on your dealer or fellow forum member for info.

Thanks,

Are they being shipped on tri-levels?

Another thing... it costs a lot less diesel fuel to haul a train full of cars across the country than it would to send 50 trucks to a destination. And the rail cars provide protection from the elements.

Avol2,
Your car left Durand, MI at 6:32 PM this evening.
It's ETA is now 5/07/09 at 11:06 PM.
It's still on Canadian National.

KK2010SS, can you explain why the destination Annapolis MD says the origination is CA? Something doesn't seem right.

Also, what is pulled from customer? GM?
