The switch isn't in range? Switches are either on or off. I'm not understanding the range issue.

The tests for the switch say that there is a range of 5.6K-6.2K or the switch is no good, The one i have is 8.88K on one of the 4 tests and it has a second test it is over the limit on too, In the old days your right " Switches are either on or off " But when you drive a drive by wire car the Switches are not the same there only input for the computer.

OK I'm with you now. The steering wheel controls are the same way. The reason for the "range" in this case, is that the switch is a multi-function switch. The switch has multiple positions and each position has a corresponding "range". The computer detects what range the switch is in and acts accordingly. So, they either sent you the wrong switch or it was just built incorrectly. If you were comfortable with doing some light electronics work you could of made it work by putting a 16k-20k ohm resistor in parallel with the 8.88k and you would of then been within range. I'm guessing the switch wasn't something you could easily open and tinker with though. Probably just easier to get a new one. Just takes a bit longer.

Looking forward to you getting this working. Great work man.

In some applications switches with the appropriate resistors may work . I found that in the case of the tap shift switches using momentary switches with resistors was slow and you almost had to time how long you hold the switch. The factory switches react instantly.

So...I was thinking.

Let's figure out what 2SSRS makes in a week...have him take a "vacation" and we'll all "contribute" so that he doesn't miss out on a weeks pay and he can wrap this up.

The suspense is killin a fella.

LOL

Good luck,
Ivan
