Smile Marketing thought

I've read here that the dealers are to get "Floor" cars to sell well before most of the pre-orderrd vehicles are even produced. Reason was stated that the dealers needed these cars to entice excitment with potential owners and perhaps, to get people in the showroom. I can certainly appreciate that.

I think the pre-ordered cars should be constructed and given to new owners before the dealer cars are handed out. My thoughts are that the public would get just as excited about seeing these cars on the street and getting to see it in action. Sitting in the showroom has it's advantages but those advanatages are fewer than expected due to the fact it seems dealers are selling these Floor car's that were I thought were in showrooms to entice.

So as a result, I have a pre-ordered car that will be delayed in production because of the need to produce "Rental", "Floor" cars etc..., and to boot, I can't even find one to look at because the dealers are selling them off.

Not really complaining, I'll be happy to wait, just like the rest of you. I would however love to see just a little more emphasis on building cars for the pre-ordered folks.

I could be wrong about this whole thing and GM may be producing pre-ordered cas on mass. If that's true just ignore these thoughts

I guess I feel just a little uneasy buying a car without seeing, touch or driving it first. With that said, I believe there is no way I"ll be dissapointed. Thanks to this board my confidence about this car remains high.

Thanks, L

We will be very satisfied! But after having a "big block Yugo", you might be a little disappointed with your Camaro choice...

That's a tough one. Think of it like this.......imagine if you were just now thinking of getting a Camaro a car that never crossed your mind. You aren't one of the 14,000 pre orders who've known all about it for years and been clamoring for one. But you don't know much about it. So you go to a dealer and ask if you can test drive one. "no sorry, I've got these pre order cars you can look at and sit in before I remove the plastic from the seats". Gotta have something in the dealerships to go along with the sold cars.

I know that doesn't help anyone waiting for their car, but GM has to sell a whole lot more, like 4 or 5 times more than the pre orders for the car to be a hit.

I've been following this car since the Detroit show in 2006. I ordered mine in October of 2008 and finally this week got to see and sit in 3 of them. Very nice, at least I got to breath Camaro air so now I can settle back in for the rest of my long nap. I'm still at 1100 but may get the next allotment, I hope.

Other than the Economy going to **** they won't have a problem selling these vehicles unless there is a major design flaw they haven't found yet. 5 others just at my job (of about 80 people) are seriously thinking about buying a Camaro. There is no good reason to be holding onto any pre ordered vehicles for the unveiling.

This is why I can appreciate GM's point of view. As a pre-order I realize I have somewhat of an egocentric frame of mind on this. Playing the waiting game patiently and humble

SoCal dealers got together a few nights ago for a meet and greet with the new Camaro. Fleet manager said that each dealer would get a LT and SS for "demo" purposes and they were "NOT TO BE SOLD!"

Not holding my breath on that one.

2nd Thoughts....

After getting the full stroke package thxs GM. I'm still not driving a camaro while people who ordered 5 months after me are. I have been having 2nd thoughts.

I am coming out of a 3200 lb vette that makes 380 to the groung with an East Side tune and a callaway honker and going into car 3700+ lbs that is going to make similiar HP with similiar mods. I don't think I am going to be happy.

If I had my car a week or two ago this would really never have come up. I would be driving all around showing off my low vin number SS. But know with people in surronding towns already getting cars (high vin #'s Good Job GM) and me still sitting in right field no car I am begining to feel cheated. The point in ordering a car in Oct was to be 1st and have the cool factor of being the first in your area to have an SS. Now with that being gone I think the car is going to be tooo slow for my liking.

At this point not 100 percent sure what I am going to do. I feel cheated and are waying other options. I am sick of GM being a day late and a couple billion short....

As to what I am going to buy = To be continued.....

There should be no dealer 'holding on' to a 'pre-order' for the unveiling....that's why they're getting a V6 ---

That's easy for you to say. You already have two Camaros. It isn't right on any level and no level of reasoning can possibly justify alienating and upsetting pre-order customers. We understand the logistics of this but that doesn't make anybody feel any better. I'm sorry Number 3, we deserve a WHOLE lot better from GM getting these cars out. No disrespect intended.

All due respect Number 3, thats all semantics. That's like telling me I should have went to all the dealers in my area and asking about allocations and what number pre order I am, and buy from the dealer I'm lowest on the list. Simple guy like me justs wants his car. I THOUGHT I was sitting pretty at #18 only to find out I'm lucky if I see my car in July. GM could have done this pre-order stuff alot fairer.
