I had this same problem and changing the rear end diff. fluid and adding some type of GM additive corrected the grinding issue.

I used this part number (8886862624) today after experiencing the same issue after putting a 3.27 Camaro Diff in my G8. The oil is for a Vette and so far so good. Great advice after reading through all these posts. |

Just took mine to the dealer yesterday and dropped it off. Called me today and said they could not get it to make any noise. They are going to keep it another night and try again tomorrow. Apparently the TSB listed in this thread does not show up for my VIN #.

I also have the same issue on my 2013 ss automatic. I thought it sounded like a brakes. Almost like the E/brake was left on. That type of sound. Yes first thing in the morning and backing out of the driveway

I had this happen when there was no fluid. Maybe you are running low and need to replace it?

Sorry to grave dig, but I figured that I would finally ask about how to go about the situation... Basically, my 2010 2SS manual coupe has been triggering that ABS check issue since like the second day of owning the car. Seems like it's mainly a 2010 first year vehicle release issue, since I don't really see any other year model SS' having this issue.
I've been driving it for over a year and a half now, and it engages the ABS when I begin to reverse my car. It also seems to be the very first reverse braking, when I start up the vehicle. You can feel the grinding sensation in the brake pedal, and can hear it audibly throughout the car when sitting inside the cabin. I also don't have to be on an incline or have my front wheels turned at any particular angle. You can literally be reversing from a flat ground surface, keep it engaged in reverse once getting the car moving, and it should trigger the ABS grinding as soon as you press on the brakes while still reversing. My concern is that I would have to drop my car off at a local Chevrolet dealership, since they're the only ones that would probably have that specific ECM/ECU "update" flash? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that they would probably plug their own device of some sort, through the OBD II port; and then flash an updated base map, but with an revised ABS "calibration" of some sort..? This could take days at a minimum, assuming that they could maybe trigger it within a day if they tinkered with the car and maybe turned it on and off a few times, and then tried reversing and then braking to see if the ABS check malfunctions. What if they don't even know about the software flash (TSB found here in this topic thread), or they say that they no longer have that available flash or can't retrieve it?
