Sorry, but auto V8 mustang from the 04 and lower years is no faster than the current Camaro V6...thats forsure. Manual should have some advantage but it won't be a run away win either.

I don't see why it's so outlandish to think that the V6 Camaro will hang with the Mustang. My near-stock LT1 ran a 14.0 flat at 99, and I used to pull a car or two on the 99+ 4.6 GTs (manual--auto was noticably slower). While the majority of V6 Camaros now may not be that fast, there are certainly some that are... just like there are some '00 GTs that will run faster than some V6 Camaros.

And really, the argument about age etc is all relative. Higher mileage engines DO suffer compression loss... they also need tune-ups, plug changes etc, which is why the OP was saying that MOST 11 year-old cars are losing ponies. Obviously you have your garage queens with 2k miles a year, well-maintained etc... but really, does the average driver of a 2000 GT baby his car and take care of it? No, it's a daily driver and probably goes at it with every other Honda at a stop-light. It's the same reason you don't meet any fast LT1s anymore.

Heck, you maintain any car and it'll run right. My bone-stock (305!!!!) IROC 'vert went 14.9 @ 92 with 145k on the clock, but it's because it was always maintained. I say line them up and see. My money would be on a driver's race!

Start at 17 seconds.....until around 35 second mark. Not sure whats happening here, but this late model GT doesn't seem to be pulling much at all on this LLT

I couldn't see the Mustang when the Camaro took off. Looked like the Camaro tree'd him but the Mustang didn't gain ground. The Camaro at least had axle backs, you could tell by the horrible sound it was emitting....

With equal drivers you are losing everytime to the 4.6 liter stangs making 300hp. Sorry but that's the truth.

It's actually kind of sad that the 'stang has a V8, and a big weight advantage and yet....it can't seem to pull away.

In all seriousness, it's technology, guys. It just goes to show how far the V6s have come from the "old" days.

Don't know about a "big" weight advantage, maybe that was you being sarcastic. That could be a stock Mustang and a Camaro that someone spent a couple thousand or so on in modding it. You're right though, it's amazing in what we're seeing these V6 powerplants doing now. I'm old fashioned in that I would always choose the V8 in any of the current 3 muscle cars out there....

Yeah I mean on paper the advantage goes to the Stang but my point is that its a small enough advantage that it becomes a drivers race. I definitely out drove the dude but a win is a win.
