You are entitled to your opinion for sure. BUT keep in mind, WE are CHEVY people. WE will buy the car with no problem. Those 3 things will make another buyer looking to spend 35K to buy ANOTHER car.

That cash should be going toward soft IPs or longer electric range on the Volt. That's what would have made it fair to the rest of Americans who have to pay for their healthcare, not blaming the government for not providing it. That would have helped make profits on small cars more achieveable. That would help negate the $1500 or so legacy cost that GM has on every car they sell. A nationalized healthcare system would be a disaster. At least untill they clean up the illegal aliens but that a whole other bag of beans.

Scott, you talk about playing on a level playing field, but neither GM nor the UAW seemed to make solid business decisions in reguard to the rest of American companies NOT in the automotive world, thus giving the impression GM is not playing on a level field. Do you think a company like Microsoft would even consider funding pensions and healthcare when it can be done through third party?

If GM did make those proposals to the UAW and they refused them, what can I say? It was bad business.
this rant is just sad. you are all over the place making political statements as well as bashing GM. This forum is to talk about the camaro and discuss it not to talk about GM and youre perceived short falls of their business practices, while bashing one of its employees. seriously get over self. If you want to buy this car then buy it, if you dont.. dont. its as simple as that. Your act is old and tiresome.

My past cars that I've owned:

1970 1/2 Camaro RS
1970 Chevelle SS
1972 Chevelle SS
1983/84 Camaro Z-28 305-ho LOL!!

After those years I felt the Camaro's got bloated and sticker graphic busy. However some of the motors ran like raped apes...

Fast forward to the past 2 yrs. I wanted a muscle car. To me there are only 2 to choose from, the Chally and the Camaro. The Mustang just felt like a tin box when I drove it. Still being a Chevy blue guy all my life I could not bring myself to buy a Chally when the Camaro was coming out a year later.

So I waited.......Pre-order program started and I ordered just like the rest of us. We went by pictures and looking at the car from a distance at the shows.

Until today I only had 2 gripes with the Camaro, and gripes from pictures.

1-Gas filler on the wrong side of the car.
2-Black wire loom in the trunk.

TODAY was the BIG day!! I left the wife and kids at home so I can have peace and quiet so I can soak up all the Camaro juices...Sitting in the car brought back the good old days. There are TONS of positives about the car that we all know and agree on but there are some things that SCREAM "CHEAP" about the Interior.

Remember, I bleed Chevy blue and I will call a spade a spade. I thank the God above for my family, health and good fortune thoughout my life. I'm blessed and done well. I know the value of a buck and if I wanted a vette I would have bought one. To me 38K is alot of money. Don't tell me, "oh hey the car is cheap, its only 38K".

Today, after I sat in the car at the Ft.Lauderdale show I have 3 more gripes.

1-The ip is hard plastic, not like the cushion dash like most other cars today like the Malibu.

2-What were they thinking......If you are sitting in the passenger seat and want to let the person in the back seat out, its a 2 step operation. Even the colbalt has a 1 step slide. Make matters worse, the passenger seat is half power, only power is recline. Don't tell me the back seat is only for show, if its only show why put it there? It has a back seat and I want to use it otherwise I'd buy a Vette.

3-No light for vanity mirrors.

This car costs 38K, how much did Chevy really save by the above cost cutting measures?
Bean counters say if we save a dime here times 80,000 cars thats alot of profit. but guess what, you can cut costs TOO MUCH and there will be no volume...:(

I will return to the show tomorrow for a second look and sad to say I will spend some time in the SRT-8.

*******

Sat in it today, with a buddy that has a vette, and he said this actually felt more fun. He said the vette was so stretched out, you guided the missle. The Camaro seemed like it was going to be fun to toss around and DRIVE. I say for my 37k, I love it just the way it is!!!

I know I haven’t posted much on the forum but I figured I never had any information worth posting on this website but I think I do now. Friday I went to the auto show in Fort Lauderdale and I went with my friend my brother my girlfriend and my father. The first thing we did when we got there was go to the camaro and I for one was amazed with the car.
I was extremely worried with all these people lately posting about how the interior is horrible and how it has too much plastic, basically saying it wasn’t up to their standards. But now that I saw it for myself I’m extremely happy with it and all the worry I had is completely gone. I guess some people have very high standards for cars

Finally my father, brother, girlfriend, and friend were all extremely shocked, amazed at how wonderful and beautiful this car was all around and none of them like nor drive American. And after I informed my friend how much msrp for the v6 was.....he said "WHAT! 24k for this car! WOW!" and yes he knows that is without all the options inside.
Sorry for this long post but I wanted to say what I felt and I know post like this one calm people down. I know it calmed me down at time.

Ok, ArcAngel & fastball- You guys need to grow up, plain and simple. I'm not one to stir up trouble, and I'm not looking to now, but I'm tired of reading this tripe. I understand you guys are disappointed with the Camaro's interior materials, and that's fine. I also understand you have a problem with the way GM is run, or has been run in the past anyway. The problem is, you're trying to make a connection of the two that is grossly out of proportion. GM's structuring and financial problems did not culminate in the Camaro's interior, which is what you're basically trying to make it look like. It's very juvenile to make something as small (yes, it's small, for the Camaro, IT's SMALL!!) as the interior materials into something as big as "GM's in the toilet and this is why". No... it's not. As fbodfather said, it's a compromise, something the world is full of... always has been, always will be. If you wanted a plush leather interior, maybe they could have given the SS the V6 at the same price. After all, the new 6 has as much HP as the old Z/28 LS1 did. But then I'm sure you'd complain that after 8 years, GM shouldn't have been so stupid as to release a new top-end Camaro with the same power as the last one. Ultimately, if you don't like it, don't buy it. You wanna know who's REALLY going to change the public's perception of American cars? I'll give you a moment...

We are. Yeah, that's right. Personally, and I know I speak for several others here, GM has made not strides, but leaps in the quality of its vehicles. So if someone who's an import fanatic comes up to you and asks why your $34k Camaro SS is better than his $34k 370Z/Accord coupe/Camry Solara/etc., you tell them about the BENEFITS, not the negatives. If you say, "well, the dash isn't as soft as yours, and the mirrors aren't lighted, and the gas cap is on the wrong side", they're gonna leave with a bitter taste in their mouth and confirmation that American cars are still crap. On the other hand, if you tell them how much extra power and handling they're getting, what extra features their getting, not to mention the unique styling, maybe they'll reconsider. But then, maybe they won't. And that's fine, because the Camaro is not for everyone. Maybe they don't want 50 or 100 extra HP and sports car handling, then the Camaro isn't the car, but if they want great comfort, let's move them to the very-impressive Malibu. American cars are better than ever, not perfect, and they're not too far from knocking the imports down for the count...

And I would like to echo Wildpaws observation. At the Rochester show you practically needed to get a separate ticket to get in the Camaro. I could have driven away the Mustang or Challenger and I'm not sure anyone would have noticed.

Oh and we did have a base v6 at our show.
no actually your comment isnt more intelligent. It is flat out childish and stupid, what happened when you were at a show doesnt mean it happened at mine. I was stating what I saw. If you cant handle it then cry yourself to sleep and let your tears be absorbed by your camaro pillow.

And this was a Victory Red LT. I liked the comment from one person that had walked past the Camaro with hardly a glance on his way to the Dodge display, he was back 30 minutes later stupified at how much more you got for your money in a Camaro and commented on how awesome the new Camaro was.

At the fortlauderdale auto show last night a man walked up to a challenger and says..... This is a dodge charger man yeah its sweet a CHARGER and it was the car in dukes of hazzard. just thought it was funny . I like the look and feel of the inside of the camaro. There is a different feel in all the cars i looked at. I liked the leather and i will like the plastic when its orange. I like the lighting on the speedometer. The radio unit looks a bit odd, but other then that i was pleased.

noob
Maybe if you actually read what I wrote you would realize that my comment wasn't intended to be more intelligent, I was just pissed at your ignorant comment, thus the :middlefinger:.

I may be a noob by your definition, but I can tell you I've never been on a Challenger or Charger forum. I have better things to do with my time. I actually have a life. Maybe you should get one too and get off here until you buy a Camaro.

I'm done with you junior.

Believe it or not, but a hard dash is a big deal for me. I'm a Chevy guy, I'm a Camaro guy, but this car is a big financial stretch for me. The hard, cheap materials in my Cobalt drive me crazy, and I spent economy car money. After spending double that amount any cheap materials would drive me absolutely up the wall. The interior is where you spend the vast majority of your time with the car. And if 90% of the time I spend with the car gives me the impression of cost cutting, poor quality, low durability, and discomfort, I won't be happy.
