I'm not sure what you're trying to suggest here... either you think the Mclaren F1 has a DCT or you think I'm suggesting manuals are inherently faster or something...

The whole AFM thing seems like a bucket of worms to me. There seems to be lots of lifter and oil consumption issues. It seems like the first thing everybody wants to do to their L99, is swap out the exhaust. The next thing they want to do is, turn off the AFM to get rid of the drone. Then they're faced with the dilemma of voiding the warranty on the engine that probably needs it the most. It seems simpler to just push a clutch pedal to me.
Valid points. Mine is an auto and agree with most of your reasoning here.

I choose to drive an auto and even with the points noted here I chose auto again when I got my second Camaro. As a toy I would get manual. As my DD, auto is my choice.

Despite popular opinion on this site, a Dual Clutch Transmission is not an Automatic. My point was that most supercars either come with a Stick Shift or Dual Clutch Transmission (both of which react the same way when you drive them) and not a conventional automatic like the Camaro or many American cars have.

I must have misunderstood what you were trying to say as I was under the impression that you were responding to the dingbat that stated "just the slow ones" come with manuals.

I drive an automatic V6.

I can drive a manual anytime I want. However, my car is my DD, and I drive a good 100 miles a day, 80 or so on the highway and 20 in town. I bought a 2LT/RS because it's what I wanted, before I drove a big 1500 Sierra (more manly than any SS/1LE/ZL1 IMO), and the whole 'derp just a v6' 'only menly mans drive teh manuals!' is extremely childish. ESPECIALLY coming from older men on this website. This is an Internet forum, if we wanna all be honest here, no one is really impressing anyone with their car. Some of the modding is quite impressive, but the fact of what you drive, you have to look down on others? Some people really, really need to get a life.

Methinks it's insecurity. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the sound of a V8 engine. I love the power, I love the speed. But looking down on others and making fun of someone because they don't drive a faster car than you? Considering yours isn't even near the fastest thing on the road, well...that's just downright douchey.

Also, I just skimmed the thread, and this is the gist I got of it. I like this community a lot, but some of the attitudes around here are just lame.

I can joke about it now, but its something all us guys need to be aware of. If you notice any unusual bumps pain or swelling in that area get it checked out immediately. It's one of the most curable forms of Cancer, IF its caught in its early stages.

Just my public service announcement....We now return you to your regularly scheduled program....

I'll also just say that if you think you need a manual to feel like more of a man then you have bigger issues to deal with...

Thank you, Angry Bird

FWIW, i would have preferred a manual, it was rather difficult to find a manual convertible with the exception of getting an SS. So, i acquiesced, and got the automatic. Being my first 6 cylinder, rear wheel drive, car, if I need to get out in traffic, i'll put it down in sport mode, just to get out that much quicker.

Just get a manual, you won't even notice you're missing a nut.

I noticed there are too many nuts on the forum already.
