Drove my '99 C5 Auto Z51 coupe from Apopka, FL to Stingray Chevrolet to order my Summit White 1LT/Manual yesterday. 70 miles each way and averaged 27.9 mpg by the computer. BTW the 'Vette has 108k on it. From my experience with Chevy motors it takes about 5K miles to "break in the motor". Your first oil change to a synthetic will help too.

The 99 Corvette has a 0.29 drag coefficient, which is better than most fighter jets! It slices right through the air. My 98 Z51 6-speed Vette had double over-drive (3.73 X 0.5 final drive ratio).

The Camaro will have a much higher drag (LT less than the SS due to the mail-slot, but not much less).

DIC says 20.5 with under 300 mi (still on dealer gas). That is with winter blend, some relatively cold weather, several "runs", relatively mixed driving (sometimes I'm gentle other times I goose it). That is about what I would expect. My Grand Prix GT had similar EPA ratings and I found I got around 21 mixed in the winter (although I found I got around 34mpg highway on my annual trip in March which was around 200 mi round trip) and 24 mixed in the summer. I NEVER shift below 2k RPM's (that would seem wrong)

Looks like 19.5 at last fill up using miles/gallons at fill up

The SS also has a larger lower grill opening, which will also increase drag... but maybe the other difference in the front would make up for some of it, with difference in the lower air dam and the wind splitters on the front corners... I am not an Aero expert, but I do see those making a slight difference also..

19.7 MPG. Lots of both city and highway driving. I remote start on cold mornings for 5-10 minutes before I leave, and I also go through a parking garage multiple times a day up to the 5th or 6th floor...and I take off pretty fast sometimes.

This current tank is 87 octane, no ethanol, and gas mileage has gone up to an average of 24.8-25mpg combined. Car has headers, axleback and IAT relocation. I will stay with nothing but non-ethanol 87 octane from now on, lol.

My highway MPG (well mostly highway), has went from 23 to 26 after my 1st oil change (at 1700 miles). Hopefully it keeps going up to 29. More would be better

Well, I just went over 10,000 miles this weekend. I guess the only disappointing part of my experience so far is the mileage. And, by disappointed, don't by any means think I'm not sill LOVIN my car.

I drive a mix of city and highway and get a pretty consistent 17 to 18 mpg. On the highway I get a pretty solid 25 to 26mpg. I think I hit 125 today on a clear stretch. I was so freaked I didn't double check, Cuz I Was Breakin the Law. Anyway, even then I ended my 60 mile trip at 25.4mpg. I also notice that if I nurse the peddle at around 67/68mph I can get as much as 30.3mpg, which to me is pretty amazing! The problem is that this engine seems pretty unforgiving. Once you start passing or climbing a hill--any peddle play seems to affect the mileage significantly.

I guess I'll just have to love her for who she is.

That's pretty funny, you drive 125 MPH and you're disappointed in the mileage! I doubt you'll get 29 MPG doing that often

Okay now You're being funny. I don't drive 125mph All the time or often - I'm just saying you have to work hard to get good mileage. No messin around with that import that wants to egg you into a passing race. Not even easy cruising at 73, 4, or 5 cuz mileage suffers from the stated 29. Remember, I did say I got as high as 30.4. That was today on a 60 mile highway drive. On Snow Tires All things considered, I'm okay with the mileage vs. performance.
By the way - Sorry about your car - I saw the before and after of the pics you posted. Man, I can't even imagine. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

I was getting about 18.5 for the first few hundred miles. I'm around 1200 miles now and it's averaging 23.

It's encouraging to see gas mileage seems to increase as the car gets broken in.
I'm still under 900 miles, so I'm hoping to see better than the 16 I've been getting.
