Well, took the intake by my paint shop yesterday to have him look at it and give me a quote to prep it and paint it, and man I about fainted! He said he would want about 1000 bucks to do it! I said what? And he told me because of the "sandy coating" that was on it would take a lot of time to sand it off and get it smooth enough to prime and paint. So I said well let me take it home and I would sand it myself and bring it back when it was done. Then I got to thinking, lol, yea I know, thinking, why don't you take it to a sand blaster shop and have it blasted clean! What a novel idea ! So I took it to a local shop that has been in business for 30 years and does jobs for the hotrod shops around here to do it. He told me 75 bucks to do it. So far a great savings in money and time. So we will see how it turns out on Monday which is the soonest he could do it. So I will keep ya all posted on the outcome of this deal. The " natural finish" I ordered wasn't what I thought it would be. But it's ok, I'll get it there and painted. I love a challenge and it will be done and painted !! Cheers guys.

Mine definately has a rough texture... but still looks good in black. I guess it's a matter of personal preference... but in my opinion engine parts should have a texture... it's not a body panel. If you look at the colored ones that LOD has powder coated... I think they look awesome. I would expect that if you would have just painted yours it would have turned out great. Now.... I don't think blasting it is going to hurt either... but if the painter is going for smooth... I think it's going to take alot of primer coats and sanding... that's my two cents.

I can't wait to get this intake!! I was going to do the natural finish in hopes it would be polished but... Guess not!

Very nice looking. Question: What kind of hood treatment is that?

Hey clark, my car sees a lot of car shows in a year, probably about 20-30 and has won many trophies for the clean and shiny look she has, paint, wheels and such. Everything under hood is either gloss RJT, black or mirrored stainless and is kept very clean. I will have to get a pic and post it. I am going for the same look for my intake to match everything else under there. It's cool when you pop the hood and folks say woooowwww that's pretty sweet looking! Then you crank it up and hear the cam and just freak out. It's cool... She is a show AND go car...

Those are bitchin looking manifolds for sure! Cant wait to see the peak HP gain, should be about 20-30 HP increase.

Yea they are cool looking for sure! The stock LS3 Camaro LOD installed this intake on that only had LT's, CAI and an aftermarket exhaust gained 37rwhp, and with my TSP Stage 3 cam we are looking at possibly 45-48 more rwhp, so Im being told, but we will see.

I can't wait to see what it gains - if it really picks up nearly 50whp then I'm pretty well sold on that deal. You will be a nice independent confirmation. You doing a straight up before/after dyno at the same place at the same time?
