I really need to bring this observation to peoples' attention:

I noticed I have notchy shifting and otherwise shifting anomalies - like not being able to shift into 3rd and 5th gear when the transmission is WARM. When I pull out of my garage on [any] degree day, and start driving, I get silky smooth shifts, until the trans temp goes north of the middle tick mark . . .

Most people have said they experience grinds and notches when the transmission is cold and I just don't see that. Ever.

Well, I dropped off my ss last Friday for them to look into why the car won't shift into 5th gear at times.

The tech that's in charge of all the transmission work said he is going to look through the trans, check for bulletins, look at the syncros. He mentioned something about the forks in the transmission (any one ever heard of that before)

ok boys and girls.... I ordered my 2011 2SS/RS last month picked it up thursday nite in the rain :( i live in central jersey. My cars got 106 miles on it and it grinds sencond gear. i have a major anal side when it comes to my cars and i refuse to take it back to the dealer bc im afraid of getting it back scratched or dented. i even made the dealer give me the car without the front license plate bracket installed and no stickers on it. my car was the only one there without both. anyway this sucks for all of us. im pissed. ~ Rick! i was hoping to talk to you about rebuilding my tranny for me since youve done them before. pm me please

I just bought a 2011 2SS RS about 2 weeks ago.... i went on a road trip car was great...but i noticed around the 1500 mile mark that it gridded in 1-2... like everyone else i thought this was my error....since then it has done ot multiple time... i have learned to pause and wait a split sec and it ok... but quick acceleration it grinds like hell...i just took it out in the parking lot got it to grind 3x in a row....taking it to a chevy dealership in the morning..any suggestions about how i can the troubleshooting process go smoother and quicker i know this is a KNOWN.. but "UNKNOWN" issue

The best thing you can do is have your service manager ride with you for a test drive. If they do it alone, they'll baby it and it will never grind. I have a GM engineer coming to do take a test drive with me this week. But you might get lucky and have a service manager that has experience with the 2nd gear issue on the TR6060 and get it fixed right away.

I went astep furthr than having the service manager do the test drive with me..... I took the mechanic that is actually going to be working on my transmission and brought him along with me on the test drive. The service manager is not the guy who is going to be working on your car, I think it's better to have the actual person who is going to be working on the car come along for the test drive. And long and behold the car locked me out of 5th gear twice while on the test drive with the mechanic. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that was able to recreate the issue.

Like I said before, I left my car at the dealership last week. I haven't heard from them yet. I'm going to wait untill the middle of the week and then I'm going to swing by and check in on the progress.

I know it's been said before but change the fluid to Royal Purple Syncomax or even Amsoil's brand. I had the same issues and pulled my hair out with the dealership not being able to recreate it. It's since been much better. I don't grind at all when driving normal and haven't done it yet driving aggressive.

I am still nursing mine along at 3000 miles and afraid the grind and notchiness is going to destroy the trans. I smell clutch burning even just pulling in and out of the garage on flat ground. I drive a manual transmission vehicle 120 miles per day so I know it is not driver skill in the Camaro. I bought the Royal Purple but have not put it in in fear that they will say I have voided the warranty by NOT using a GM approved product even though the Royal Purple is a superior product. We appear to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. If the dealer puts driver error on the complaint then we look like incompetant drivers and that simply is not the case. I am waiting for a TSB on this subject in hopes it leads to a transmission swap out in its entirety. I would love to put in a separate reservoir for the clutch but am again concerned that warranty will go by by and the dealer says that it wasnt a factory item so VOID warranty. That would really make me super pissed and wouldnt want to go down that road. Thus temporary LIMBO!!!

Have you contacted your regional GM service rep or Jeff Morris (post 300)? DO NOT put RP in it or seperate reservoir until you have this resolved by GM. Don't stay in "Limbo" for a problem that GM needs to get fixed. Start pushing some buttons, send e-mails, write letters, find another dealer, etc till it gets resolved! It's gonna take a lot of work but it's worth it! GM replaced my entire transmission and my problems weren't even as severe as some of those mentioned here! I was persistant with my dealership and e-mails to GM got the job done!

Take it to the dealership.. DONT DO ANYTHING TO IT BUT 93 OCTANE!! (91 for me :( ) i say this because the 1st thing they asked me was "what aftermaket accessories did u put on it" UHHHH NOTHING..."are u sure u know how to drive it" ? its just gonna take time and patience and the HOPE that chevy will put out that TSB... Im a DIE hard FANATIC but i work too hard for my money AND that Challenger SRT-8 that my buddy got is shifting wonderfully... i would hate to trade in this car for that... we have to stay persistent guys...... good luck man.... and PM Jeff Morris he'll help you
