That was one thing I always wondered though about getting a ZL1 bumper. Always wondered how well it would match the hood and fenders.

I've actually seen that they match pretty well.

Funny yes but I have a hard time laughing.
My Hypertech tune really gave my car a lot more torque down low and firmed up my auto trans shifts points nicely. I dont't have any 1/4 time slips to show but I can tell a difference in performance. Just my two cents.

I thought so. Out of the countless build threads I've read where people went with the ZL1 bumper I have yet to read anything about mis-match in paint, but it was always on my mind.

Would be awsome if you could now try the Hypertech tune again lol. Would that be a pain in the rear? Temperatures are climbing too, so that doesn't help at all.

I'm also wondering about your ported intake since you didn't have it on when you were running your best times. Are your heads matched to the ported IM, or not? Mine are not, and I have to say...although some people love their ported IM....I've never felt like mine did anything for me. If it did...I couldn't feel it, but then again the inlets on my heads are not matched to the IM so there is a bit of an edge there for the air to pass over.

I've always wondered if that is affecting my performance, of if it is not a big deal. From what I can recal, the ported IM was tested to show gains whether or not the heads were matched, and I didn't want to port the inlet on the heads so I left them alone.

...anyone have a stock IM they want to send me for testing?? lol
I gasket-matched the head ports when I installed the ported IM. At least one of the ported IM vendors stated in some thread that it's an absolute "must" to match the heads with the ported IM. I installed the Black Iceolator at the same time for the claimed 30HP/30TQ. Frankly I didn't feel much from the combo either. I chalked it up to having a non-calibrated butt-dyno and maybe the mushy automatic transmission. Perhaps the ECM "re-learn" thing delayed the true gains for some time so I didn't notice them as they came in - who knows. Having never raced nor dyno'd the car, I can't say there were no gains; but I can't exactly say the opposite either.

The thing is that the factory bumper already mismatches so bad that when you get the new bumper, a lot of the time it matches either the same as stock or even better. The paint is off on the bumpers so bad that when I went with a friend to pick up his scion tc after being painted le mans blue, the paint shop owner came out and immediately was able to tell me that the bumpers didn't match the body. So to a trained eye, you can tell real quick.

Yup, this! When I saw jewels zl1 bumper, the color matched better than a guy in our club stock rjt bumper. You can still tell its a bit off though. Not enough to complain about. I really think its the plastic bumper vs metal fender.

O never noticed haha, maybe its cause it is plastic instead of metal like the fenders and hood?

Gah PMC beat me to it haha.

It's definitely the fact that it's plastic versus metal. But like PMC said, you can get closer than the factory though

So if you go with a new painted bumper, I wouldn't worry about it not matching.

Well we have same cars, same color and I can tell you Gary did a very good job blending the bumper paint with my car! I think even better than the factory bumper...

V6 experts! I'm getting the itch for LT headers! Looking at the obx since are like the bbk but cheaper, my question I have trifecta, do I need re-tune? And I should get the X-pipe too? Thanks in advance!

A re-tune is a touchy subject with Trifecta haha. I think the tune you have now will automatically make it so the CEL doesn't pop up but I could be wrong. I do remember though someone saying that after they got a re-tune their CEL popped up from the headers and you would have to turn it off manually. It never hurts to do some data logging after you install the headers just to be safe.

Not gonna lie won't be surprised if after you send in some data-logs you get a "all looks good"

No, my IM is not port matched.

My drive train warranty is up in about 10 months and i'm spending way too much time on the C7 Vette boards. lol

Bigger concerns now though, got back from the Home Depot with some new items for the garage.
Yeah I read that fire thread too....definitely got me a bit paranoid lol.

(I lol now, but if my car decides to burn after setting for a few hours in my garage and takes my house with it....I won't be 'lol'ing)

I have not experienced this on my car....everything has always matched perfectly. Even the paint work I've had done on aftermarket parts at my local dealer has been very good.

Are you sure its not because of the bumper is angled differently? There was a slight uproar over this when the Camaro first came out, but a lot of the complaints were from optical illusions or whatever. The slight difference in angle can really make a color appear different. They must be on the same "plain" so to speak to really have a fair comparison.

So that's the only reason for the tune? I already erase a cell when I install my black iceolator... that's good to know! I guess I new mod is coming up!
