Borrowed a picture of my 1957 corvette winning a celebrity award from the owner of Mid American Motor Works. The image is small and low resolution for use on their webpage but is a good shot of it. I am blessed that I can own one of the first cars that started the muscle car trend that we all love. John

It was down in the low 50°'s here this morning - still only 54° per the morning DJ on the radio station. Good sleeping weather with some of the upstairs windows still open, but just a little on the cool side downstairs so I've had to shut the little kitchen window over the sink for a while. Guess I'll have to round up an old hoodie while I finish up the shocks/struts replacement job on my wife's Subaru, give it an alignment and an oil change, and swap the last two 3-season wheels and tires out for the cold weather ones.

Nice pics!

I am just so busy with renovating a house, working, waiting for daughter's baby to be born and visiting with son and grandson from Alaska! Not enough time to do it all. Am going to a car meet up with some of the group from Hot Rod Power Tour. It's called the Fall Colors Tour, and we'll be in the Smokies in NC

Nice. And because I can't help being curious - does it have the Rochester FI?

Don't send that rain up here. Were heading with the club Upstate C 5 to the Watkins Glen road cource tomorrow to do 2 separate 3 laps around the track. And doing Go-Karts in between. Only $15 to do 3 laps if we have over 15 cars price drops from $25 to $15.

Then I guess I'd better get moving before it hits up here. Didn't get the Subie's oil changed yesterday, and I can't get interested in crawling around on wet concrete any more.

BTW, Jan, at 10:30 last night I was sound asleep. Something about 5:08 AM and a noisy electromechanical rooster . . .

The car does not have Fuel Injection. It has the base motor (283 with one four barrel carb at 220 horse power). The transmission is a three speed manual (4 speed manuals arrived mid year 1957 with about 10% being produced). Over all two thirds of 1957 corvettes had automatics.

The corvette was restored in the early 1970's (some chrome and interior replaced and a complete repaint). The drive train is the original motor, transmission, and rear-end. The motor was overhauled by a shop which all the dirt short track racers in our area used.

My dad (Chevrolet Oldsmobile Dealer) traded a new 1975 Vista Cruiser for this corvette. We have put about 2500 miles on it since the 70's.

To me the best part about owning/driving the 1957 is the prospective it gives compared to the ZL1 camaro. The stiff suspension, weak brakes, smell of the engine while driving, and the sweat running down your butt on hot summer days. But, it's all good to me.

Attached is a picture of me and my two older brothers with one of the cars my dad brought home for lunch. The other is me 50 years later with a different red 1963 corvette. Some things change in 50 years and some thing do not. I got to see/be around a lot of great stuff in my life.
