I got the 2012 Camera and bracket today (for my 2010). I was just curious if anyone has a picture of how the bracket attaches to the camera when installed in the bumper. I only see pics of it finished from the outside, or not installed. Maybe it is more apparent once I have my bumper off - but I have not done that yet.
I must be looking at something wrong because I keep flipping these pieces around and just can't picture it . I just want to be sure before I go cutting my bumper If nothing else I can try to catch 2SSRS at the Fest I suppose, I live nearby. Thanks! |

Mine was all together. I guess you have a different camera.

You don't have a Camaro camera. You have a camera taken from a truck and installed on a Camaro.
The factory Camaro camera from 2012 and newer, peeks out from inside the bumper. It's a 2 piece camera and bracket system. The bumper has to come off for this installation (see my pics from an earlier post) but it results in a very clean installation. |

Look Ma - No Screws!
OK - got the 2012 OEM Camera installed into my 2010 finally! Much less noticeable than many of the aftermarket ones, and just has a cleaner look. I have a few comments here to add for anybody else considering this.
1. This will require you cutting a hole in the bumper without a template, make the hole smaller than you need, and trim to size. If you make it too big the bracket will not fit right - go slow and take your time. 2. The bracket has a u-groove (or channel) around 3 sides of it. This is designed for the bumper edges to fit into. Problem with a 2010 is the bumper is too thick to fit into this groove all the way around. I looked at a 2012 and it has a "step" molded into the bumper which makes it thinner in that area. In the 2012 bumper, this bracket would pretty much sit flush with that step in there. 3. My camera fit snugly but still had a little movement when tightening the bracket from behind. I decided to use some black caulk/adhesive on the back side to help secure it and let it cure overnight. 4. The harness 2SSRS sent was great, I connected this to a Kenwood Excelon 9990HD (with Metra Kit) and did not need to T-Tap the backup light. That wire is included in the harness if you need it though - I just taped it off. The Kenwood offers the ability to switch the camera on at any point, even forward motion. 5. I see some people say the guidelines are built into the cameras, if that is the case this does not have any (at least with the Kenwood). 6. Overall cutting the bumper was the worst part - having a Pace Car I don't prefer "unreversible" mods, but this a WAY better than having it display in the mirror. Great mod with all included wiring - dealing with 2SSRS is great |

The lines on the 2012 cars are made from data in the BCM its not in the camera or mirror.

Is the plug between the rear view mirror and the car the same on all 2010, 2011, and 2012 vehicles?
I'm trying to figure out if I can get a 2013 mirror to fit in my 2010...
