Been driving the car to work & stuff and it's been running fine until this week. Drove it to work on Wednesday and about halfway there it started running rough and really wasn't happy with much throttle at all. Of course I didn't have my laptop with me so I couldn't log anything and it wasn't tripping any CEL's either.

After getting home from work I looked things over, nothing was out of wack. Grabbed the laptop and went for a drive. Shot the log over to Ben @ GPI and he quickly pointed out the the MAP sensor was flatlined and to investigate that.

Here is what I did –
1. Removed the original MAP sensor – attached the wiring harness & a ground wire to it. Logged it with HPT, used a vacuum pump and air pressure to apply vacuum and pressure. It responded in both directions.
2. Replicated #1 with a new MAP sensor that I had in the toolbox – responded the same as the original MAP
3. Installed new MAP and test drove – same as before with flat readings – maybe a touch of fluctuation but not much.
4. Installed old MAP and started, same results. No fluctuation
5. Removed DSX aux pump harness and plugged the MAP into the OE harness. started and what looks to be normal fluctuation.

Since everything worked fine in bench testing, it leads me to believe there is a bad wire or connection in the aux pump harness connectors. I reached out to DSX to see about getting a new harness or pigtail/breakout. Will update when I learn more.

DSX sent out a complete new harness for the aux pump and that has fixed the issue with the MAP Sensor.

I've had a lot going on and haven't done a good job of documenting or taking pictures lately. Anyways, been in the process of converting from the GM ECM to Holley Dominator. This includes adding a Racing Products Gateway that allows the Holley Dominator ECU to work with the other GM modules/components.

While doing this I decided that since I removed the A/C components from the engine compartment over the winter, and now spend most of my time driving with the windows down, might as well remove the cabin air filter housing and also removed the blower motor housing from behind the glove box.

Cabin air filter housing removed -

Also picked up a lightweight battery from Antigravity - weighs 5.5lbs.

Found a place to mount the aluminum battery box and then re-routed the positive cable trunk entry from the drivers side to the passenger side.

I did add a bluetooth battery monitor from Antigravity as well. It has a neat app that provides info on the battery health etc.

The battery does an amazing job for its size. No issues starting at all. However, I have learned that it needs to be driven daily or it will loose enough charge that it wont take a charge from the car's charging system. So for now I have both batteries in place and the cables have enough room to work with either battery. Once I get some more time with this small battery, I will post an update. I plan to use it for sure at the track but will also try to use it more once I have the Holley conversion completed.

Good morning all – not a car update post here – not trying to draw attention to myself either.. just want to make anyone aware of what I went through this past week and if you start to feel numb anywhere, get to the ER! Don’t wait!

So, Thursday started out like a normal day of heading to work at 6am, getting breakfast, getting some things done and then headed into a meeting at 9am.. Typical day at the office to that point. About 10 minutes into the meeting my chin and lips started to feel a little numb then it spread to my nose and then to rest of my face. At first I thought I would go away but it didn't, it just kept getting worse. Felt like I had fallen on my face. I interrupted my boss and asked if someone could take me to the ER cause something wasn’t right. Without hesitation (yes, they REALLY wanted to call 911 but I refused) a coworker drove me quickly to the ER and was immediately pulled into an evaluation room. While in the evaluation they were asking tons of questions, taking vitals etc, then the one nurse got on the phone and started telling the person on the other end “stroke alert”. I was looking around trying to figure out who he was talking about, took me a minute but finally figured out it was me.. lol.. Was quickly moved to a CT machine then after that was over into a ER room. A little while later I was admitted for more tests (MRI, EKG and something else in the alphabet I cant remember) and stayed the night for monitoring.

I am lucky and didn’t have a stroke thankfully. While blood pressure was super high, I had a TIA - transient ischemic attack which has symptoms very similar of a stroke and can sometimes be a leading indicator of a stroke or turn into a stroke if ignored. I am really glad I was at the office as I work from home a lot and if I'd been home, I might have just gone and layed down for a bit to see if it would go away.

So I am home now and doing good for the most part. Just trying to get used to or adjusted to the new meds. I am now on some blood thinners for a few weeks, cholesterol meds and also get to see the dr’s regularly for a while now.

My boss and coworkers were great at not only helping me get the care I needed, but helping with getting my truck home, helping my wife with some things and making sure I had anything needed.

Anyways, all of that to say - If something doesn’t feel right, let someone know, get help, get to a medical facility and get checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.

Glad it all worked out, I spent the week in the hospital after my son had to be flown out, we can be stubborn at times and life is just to short not to do the best we can to take care of what we have. Hopefully this was a one time episode for you.
