I had a 1994 Camaro, with a V6...but the V8 of that year had 275hp. My 2011 Camaro, with a V6, has 312hp...you do the math!

It may not be faster than ALL past V8's, but it is better than some of them.

When has anyone considered the V-6 Camaro a "muscle car"? By definition, a muscle car is usually a manufacturer's most powerful and largest engine stuffed into it's lightest chasis. The only V-6 GM cars that I would apply the
term "muscle car" to, would be the Buick Grand National/T-type or GNXes of the 1980's. Not trying to start an engine war either, just stating a few facts. By the way, I had two gen 4 LS1's, a 305 HP Z-28 and a 325 HP SS and the current Camaro V-6's would not run with these cars. They were both low thirteens at the dragstrip in stock condition. I do not mean magazine times, I mean that is what I was turning.

Is the 1969 Camaro with a 307 engine a muscle car also?? I never really thought about it that way!

Wrong, it is a "sporty car". A "sports car" is a Covette. Sports car = two passenger.

No, The 396 and 427 models were. I had a 307 1968 Caprice Classic and that engine does not qualify as a 'muscle car" engine.

Whenever in doubt, trade up to a SS! After that, there can be no mistake about the muscular status of your ride!

Sans...........any car model thats upfitted aftermarket, re-equiped, repowered, or having its engine performance modified, I generally lean towards the popular subjective belief that a factory designed and purpose built Muscle car would have a high hp, high torque V8 engine under the hood, and are marketed as a Muscle car. Objectively there are plenty of up scale lux'o models similarly equiped, power wise, that aren't marketed as being muscle cars...............

First off, the next person that decides to start a thread like this should use the SEARCH button and find other 30 threads on this and not start a brand new retarded debate. Seems like this thread comes back around about every 3 months. As it was said above the Muscle car idea came about by stuffing the largest or a very large, Powerful V8 into a lighterweight car.

Plain and simple the V6 Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger are fun cars but they are definitely not muscle. I love my 1LT but I know where I stand on the food chain and I definitely don't feel like throwing the amount of money into my car to make it a muscle car. If you really wanted to get technical I would almost throw out the idea of the SS being a muscle car because the LS/LT and SS weigh so freaking much and they are not from the pre-early 70s time. But that is just opinion.

This reminds me of dating a hot girl with low self esteem. If you are not constantly praising them and kissing their six then they get all pissy. God forbid you look at one with more cubic inches in the right spots.

If you like the 6 and you got the 6 then be happy with the 6.

Yes. Its still a camaro, v8 or not. A Camaro is a muscle car, not just one kind of camaro. I have a v6 muscle car. I dont get why some ppl think that it isnt. Its not a different car, just a different engine. And whenever i read or hear anything about muscle cars, old or new, they dont just talk about the v8s, they ALWAYS mention BOTH. So yes. It most definitely IS a muscle car.

I agree. Its hard to call a v6 a muscle car especially when u show them like I have my v6. Guess its a good thing Im picking up my new ss tomorrow, now I'll b legit but I will say my v6 was nvr disappointing in the power dept. Its a fun car no matter what motor u have.
