For my install... basically i did it once really late at night then again the next day, i sawed off pretty much the whole side of the bracket cause they just dam well kept hitting them and it was getting freaking annoying. After that it definately sat better, then i had to file the stupid intake a bit to get it to sit flush... which it is now.

BUTTTT i just went into the garage about 1 hr ago.. took the intake off completely to just do a little overhaul/ reinstall.. The dam neck of the plastic warped like Bemorecam's did!!!! Not as bad but it did bend in... so i basically tried to pry it back but no luck and it looks like crap , oh and from the beggining, the seal to the top of the hood... its all folded down and seems streched... defintately not right either.

It usually stays in place only time ive ever seen it move is at the track from consecuative runs down the 1/4 ... anyways heres some picks, i hope Vararam can help me out here cause im starting to get frustrated, and i live in Canada which does not help
I posted a few pages earlier about using a turbo clamp instead of the ones provided, it will provide positive pressure all the way around the intake horn and prevent what happened to you here. I had the exact same thing happen to me, it was from overtightening the clamp that came with the intake. Call Vararam, they'll take care of you and when you reinstall use one of these turbo clamps and it won't happen again!

Actually very good, haven't had to touch it. The trim has formed to the contours of the hood.

Looks great, PITA to get on there though. lol

The trim comes in black also.

Just wanted to add myself as a satisfied owner of a Vararam intake.

Was relatively easy to install, even with modifiying the radiator brackets. (Measure twice and cut once)

Haven't had it dyno'd yet, but can tell there's a bit more torque to be had by installing this intake. On a steep hill where I used to have to down shift into 5th gear I can now pull it in 6th

I think I'm using a 3.5" right now and I can barely get it threaded. If you're going to order them - I think someone recommended frozenboost.com - I would get a 3.5 and 3.75" and see which fits best since they are only a few bucks a piece. Hope that helps.

so you think a 3.75 would be better cause they say that a 3.5 is 3.62" to 3.94" ... and the 3.75 is 3.73" to 4.13"

You think the neck is around 4" or so ?? which would mean the 3.75 would fit better according to there diameters.

Are the turbo clamps needed or will the clamps already on the intake fine?

To be honest, I'd be concerned with the trim effecting the natural air flow and design of the unit. The most important aspect of an intake is air flow and when you start messing with things that can change that flow it can cause issues.

It looks pretty cool, don't get me wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was designed to move and fluctuate a bit (to let heat and over-flow out) and now seems to be constricted which can dramatically change the way the air intake functions. Cool idea, though I'll stick with the design that has been changed over and over and in testing for a very long time before it was finally released.

The ones that come with it are perfectly fine. But for the very few of us with just a "slight" gap or loose fit I would feel more comfortable having the t-bolt clamps. Kind of a "better safe than sorry" thing.. plus at $11.19 including shipping I think it's worth it..

2 x T-Bolt Clamp for 3.75" Silicone Parts (CLA000109) = $5.20
------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: $5.20
Standard Domestic Shipping/Handling (USPS Priority Mail: 2-3 days): $5.99
Total: $11.19

I actually thought about all that and feel I have a better seal to the hood. The hole in the upper tray releases pressure and over-flow as you call it.

No biggie though, I'll try it out and see how it goes. Hard to install, easy to remove.

The seal isn't what I'm worried about. I'm thinking it wasn't meant to be completely "sealed." The whole design looks to be made to release excess air. I understand about the hole but it seems as though the "flapping rubber" was meant to move back if needed. I don't know jack crap though, this is all theory. But since this thing was under design and redesign for how long (a year?), I'm just a little scared to mess with it. Does look cool as hell though!
