abaucom21 --- Attached is one of the pictures of me and my two older brothers. The picture of me standing next to a different red 1963 corvette fifty years later. Some thing change and some things do not. My family was a Chevy/Olds/Pontiac dealer until General Motors kicked us to the curb.

I got to ride in a lot of neat cars during the sixties. Olds Vista Cruisers ect....

So what was your first experience that indicated you had a passion for anything automotive.
My mom and dad were Oldsmobile fans too! My mom had a mid 60's red Cutlass Coupe. My dad was a lubrication chemist that developed oil and grease so he was a complete gearhead. That's where I got it. He bought me a Corvair convertible (try to live life vicariously through me ,lol) Always been a car fan!

I remember riding around in my parent's 1960 White with red interior Impala & posing by it with our easter dresses on. I remember one of my school friends riding in it ^ we were in the back seat. We were laughing about something & she kept throwing her head back laughing & bonking her head on the plastic Impala emblem that was in the middle of the seat right where her head would hit it when she laughed like that. Then she'd say ouch, & we'd get tickled again & she'd do it again. LOL

I managed to get caught up today on the huge load of documentation I had backlogged. And today's notes done too. I left early & headed to the Y. I scheduled a physical therapy check up (sports injury prevention) & a computerized assessment & planning session for a training routine for me. Then I did about 15 min if sprint, walk, fast walk before my hour long dance exercise class. I am beat. Came home & took a nice hot lavender infused bath. Turning in early. I will sleep in a bit then another Camaro club officer's meeting. Have a great weekend crew.

For me, age 3-4 (born in 1951), memories a little sketchy. First memory was about age 3 -4 (about 1954-55). I was in the back seat of a family Chrysler at a stop light, Mom driving. A motorcycle hit in the intersection, landed on our auto smashing windshield. Remember Mom saying to me close my eyes. Still remember the blood on the windshield.

Looking back assume the Chrysler totaled. 1954-55, family went car shopping in our second auto, a 1951 Studebaker and remember the dealership like it was yesterday. Dad bought a new 1955 98 Olds two-door hardtop, fully optioned, turquoise and white. Remember like it was yesterday, as Dad drove away from the dealership I was bouncing on the rear seat, I want the turquoise and white! He turned around and bought the 1955 98 Holiday two door.

At this young age of 4 I was not finished. Remember like yesterday, I spied a 1955 Olds 98 Starfire conv. Brat that I was, Dad returned to the dealership a few weeks later an purchased the conv. for Mom. Soo 1950s, we now had matching his & hers 1955 Olds 98 hardtop and convertible with identical colors.

Sometime in 1969, my dad took me to Luby Chevrolet on Monument Street in Baltimore City to buy a new family car. He had a '63 Chevy Bel Air two door sedan to trade in. Since they did not have an Impala on the lot equipped the way he wanted it, he had to order it.

While he was processing his order, I walked around the showroom and was enamored with a Lemans Blue 1969 Chevelle SS 396 sitting on the floor. Kept telling my dad to buy it, but he wouldn't, as it was too small and only had two doors. I begged and pleaded, but we left without it.

Several months later, our new car came in, and we returned to Luby Chevrolet. He ordered a 1969 Impala four door sport sedan (no post between the side windows) with a 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree, no power options, no AC, and only an AM radio. Talk about a strippo! At least it was Lemans Blue. When I became "driving age", I did learn to drive that car. Sure was a handful!

I'm sure the car is long gone, but the building is still there. It's a mattress store and a service garage.

I love these old car photos!

We hit the 90's today, and it appears the 90's will be in our weather forecast for the foreseeable future. With our single digit humidity, I don't mind.

I enjoy watching everyday folks dance to it just as much as the song itself..... don't know if I could take the full 24 hrs in one fell swoop tho

I've always liked the Corvair, especially the V8 mid-engine conversions...

Sexy!

The earliest I can even put a rough date or age to was getting a ride on a rainy day in the Studebaker that an aunt (my Mom's aunt, actually) owned. I was 6, maybe 7 at the time, which puts it 1954-ish. What still stands out in my mind was that car's vacuum operated windshield wipers - every time my aunt went to go any faster at all, they'd stop moving and if the rain was coming down hard enough at that instant you couldn't see much.

At various other times still before 1956 I can remember my Dad putting chains on and having to charge his car's battery. With a battery charger that used a huge vacuum tube. I know "before 1956" because that's the year he took a new job with a much longer commute and needed to have a car with greater reliability than what he could apparently live with in just around town use.

And then there was this episode somewhere in this same early to mid 1950's time frame where I asked my Dad if I could turn the key to start his car . . . which provided me with an object lesson in why you should step on the clutch when starting a manual transmission car. No starter interlock switches back then.

Good morning crew. I slept in & it sure felt good. Amazing how good sleep feels the older you get. Made me a good breakfast & having my coffee now. Then just a few chores before heading to the Camaro club officer's meting. After the meeting we will head over to the hospital to visit the wife of one of the club officers. She has been in ICU (not sure if she is still or now in a regular room). Having some sort of lung problems. Hope she is getting better.

I feel ya Skip. I have not graduated to digital media either. I have an IPhone & not one itune downloaded. Who has time for that crap? I miss the day when you could just walk into a store & buy what you wanted and it actually sounded great. I borrowed my husband's Ipod when I first got Ruby & found it to be a PITA & gave it back. I'm glad I have radio, XM & a CD player in Ruby.

The Officer's meeting was something of a bust today. The girl who was supposed to meet with us to talk about getting our club set up as a non-profit & getting a charter, was a no-show. Said she got called in to work. We did what we could & visited a member who is in the hospital. Then Mike & I headed to a great local Steak place to use some more of our gift card we got from his parents for Christmas. I'm stuffed now.

Had to wear a different hat today. Had to fill four sump drains with sand and top them off with cement. They seam to have turned out ok. Should be able to park cars over them now.

Hope everyone has a great and safe week-end.

If you have an iPhone and a computer, or know someone with a computer, it's pretty easy to burn all your CDs onto the computer and then transfer the cd or songs you want to your phone. I just plug in my phone, the menu comes up on the phone the and the DIC.

I plug it in that way it charges the phone at the time instead of using Bluetooth. Only a couple bucks for a plug, they have them in different lengths, Walmart, radio shack etc...
