I just checked my mom's ~30k Honda Accord v6 and it's got a hard dash and it has the wire going through the trunk.

I just went and checked on my $2500 Mercedes and the seat does have full power. But then I realized it would just be easier to open the back door.

I would be curious if someone who has seen the interior of the Camaro can compare it to the either the GTO or the newest silverado. I think I would actually be surprised if it WASN'T pretty good. GM seems to be improving on this very important and often debated issue across the line and I think there has been some very positive changes so far.

Hope they didn't go back to the weak sauce bin on this car, that would be a huge drag.

Say what you will, but so far the reports of others at two different shows run totally opposite of what you posted. Does that indicate that that out of all shows Camaro is "dumped" at 1/3 of them and at 2/3 of the shows the Camaro was the top draw? Of course it doesn't, we would need a far greater sampling to draw any firm conclusions. What I can say is that I spent the bulk of my three hours at that show in close proximity to the Victory Red LT Camaro and I talked to a lot of people, responding to their comments and asking them questions and I can tell you that based on what I heard from them the new Camaro was enthusiastically received and people were excited by the looks, features/options, and the value for the dollars spent. And that my friend is totally at odds with your comments.

I Love some of these sex panther type of statistics being thrown out here. 60% of the time someone wants a hard dashboard everytime. Its pretty stupid to think that just because you want your dash and door panels to be soft, that because GM or anyone else that doesnt provide a soft dash for obvious reasons, means they dont pay attention to detail.

New flash is the dash is not a pillow, blanket, diaper, moist whipe, recliner, shoe insert, or anything else that would require being soft to the touch. Same goes for the door panels minus the armrest, which Im sure is not hard plastic.

I drive a 2005 chevy silverado SS with leather seats and a hard plastic dashboard. Honestly everyone who has been in my truck loves how confortable the seats are, and really loves the power and handeling of the AWD. The interior doesnt rattle and looks great, I could care less what the misc peices feel like. It would seem that everyone who has been in it feels the same way, because not one person has said anything positive/negative about the feel of my dash or door panels. Why? Because ITS A DASHBOARD!

my dash is hard plastic as well & guess what... nobody rests their hands, feet, head, or anything else on the dash to care!

the dashboard is not somewhere you're gonna have people putting their hands all over all the time, so what difference does it make? it's sloped on a pretty good angle, so it ain't like you're gonna be putting things up there. let's just let it go.

I understand you guys are disappointed with the Camaro's interior materials, and that's fine. I also understand you have a problem with the way GM is run, or has been run in the past anyway. The problem is, you're trying to make a connection of the two that is grossly out of proportion. GM's structuring and financial problems did not culminate in the Camaro's interior, which is what you're basically trying to make it look like. It's very juvenile to make something as small (yes, it's small, for the Camaro, IT's SMALL!!) as the interior materials into something as big as "GM's in the toilet and this is why". No... it's not. As fbodfather said, it's a compromise, something the world is full of... always has been, always will be. If you wanted a plush leather interior, maybe they could have given the SS the V6 at the same price. After all, the new 6 has as much HP as the old Z/28 LS1 did. But then I'm sure you'd complain that after 8 years, GM shouldn't have been so stupid as to release a new top-end Camaro with the same power as the last one. Ultimately, if you don't like it, don't buy it. You wanna know who's REALLY going to change the public's perception of American cars? I'll give you a moment...

We are. Yeah, that's right. Personally, and I know I speak for several others here, GM has made not strides, but leaps in the quality of its vehicles. So if someone who's an import fanatic comes up to you and asks why your $34k Camaro SS is better than his $34k 370Z/Accord coupe/Camry Solara/etc., you tell them about the BENEFITS, not the negatives. If you say, "well, the dash isn't as soft as yours, and the mirrors aren't lighted, and the gas cap is on the wrong side", they're gonna leave with a bitter taste in their mouth and confirmation that American cars are still crap. On the other hand, if you tell them how much extra power and handling they're getting, what extra features their getting, not to mention the unique styling, maybe they'll reconsider. But then, maybe they won't. And that's fine, because the Camaro is not for everyone. Maybe they don't want 50 or 100 extra HP and sports car handling, then the Camaro isn't the car, but if they want great comfort, let's move them to the very-impressive Malibu. American cars are better than ever, not perfect, and they're not too far from knocking the imports down for the count...
Nice post overall, I still maintain that with the Inferno interior package that the Camaro has the best overall and vissualy exciting interior.

I don't understand why on this forum we all have to be of one mind. If we disagree we disagree. This forum is here for discussion is it not? Not all people agree on the interior, ok the stripes, abl, steelies etc etc. That's what CAmaro5 is about. The Camaro and our opinions on it. Not everyone drinks kool aid. Just because we differ it means we just expect different things from GM and Camaro. Last time I checked that's what made America great.

And both of us were sharing our experiences with you, now lets see, that's two shows that were positive for the Camaro and one that was negative for the Camaro (within the time frames of the posters actually being at the show AND the other people at the show at the same moment AND whatever number of people each overheard or talked to), so that must make it 66.66% positive and 33.33% negative for the Camaro. Wrong, that is simply anecdotal evidence/experience of what three individuals experienced in a short slice of time, I think what you are missing is that we posted our experience as being different as you seemed to imply that your experience was the way it really is and that's how the majority of how everyone would feel.

gm also messed up by letting people sit in a base stripped camaro v6....sends the wrong message...i heard everyone around me saying they kept the outside like the concept why couldnt they do that with the interior or something close at least. the dodge section was full of people taking pics of the orange srt8 fully loaded. my dad, the unbiased one loved the feel of the cockpit challenger seats."

You posted with your thoughts/experience, we simply countered with our experience was totally different than yours.

still doesnt make you or me right...just because there is 2 positive to 1 negative doesnt mean anything...i could easily say but oh there were more people at my show then your 2 shows combined. it's childish, let's just end this here plz....it's getting annoying.

kk thnx

Gee, that's a different take than some of your recent posts where you accused someone of posting "immature responses" because they did not agree with you. So which is it? Can we agree to disagree? Certainly people can have different perceptions and opinions, discussion can be a good thing, the problem comes when those with positive or negative opinions suddenly adopt an "us against them" mentality shrouded in the belief that everyone else is out of touch with reality and/or wrong. I would suggest that anytime in life that anyone thinks that everyone else is out of touch with reality and I'm the only one that's right, then it is time to take a good, hard look in the mirror and you will most likely see who is out of touch with reality. Sorry, based on my almost 60 years of life experience, I don't fall easily for "the one true way", unfortunately it is often implied on these forums that most are out of touch with reality (i.e. "drinking the kool aid") and that those who don't are the ones that know the correct one true way. That does not sell around my house and never will.
