Remember folks, tire pressure is key - you can lose 2-3 mpg if your tires are soft.

I've been going by what the computer says. Generally, is that pretty reliable?

Just got home from a 500 mile trip in the Camaro. Using 93 Octane, I Averaged 27.7 MPG, Mostly driving 65-70 MPH, 90% was mountian driving.. Alot of acceleration up the hills.. The V6 Handled the mountians great. I used the Paddle shifters to hold it in a lower gear going down the mountians, I let the auto handle going up the mountians... I used cruise control as much as I could.
I bet in a state with no mountians I could easily get 30+ mpg out of it
So I normally average 26 on the highway in the same type driving, So my MPG increased by 1.7 MPG..

why using 93 octane? Fuel tables built for 87 and scrmng says anti knock sensors adjust if needed, for 87 octane?

just curious...by me thirty cents more per gallon...for 93.

Do you feel a SIGNIFICANT difference in car?

thanks

I was experimenting to see if there would be enough difference to justify people with V6 cars to use the 93 Octane. to me it wasn't. At least for highway use there was not enough difference to justify the cost, performance and MPG wise.

lol, and I thought I was the only one!!

Maybe I'll sign up and start keeping tabs.

I wouldn't expect to see a really noticeable difference on the street... however, at the track where times are measured down to .001 of a second... well, you get the point! LOL

I took a nice easy 200 mile drive today on the highway. I was surprised to get 30.9 mpg! I normally use regular gas and on occasion use premium. Personally I can never tell or feel the difference. I imagine if I had diagnostic equipment I might be able to glean some useful information. At the track these fractional advantages of higher octane fuels can make a huge difference. Not so much off the track. The owners manual says use 87 octaine or higher. For the V8 91 or higher. And, "You can also use regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, but the vehicle’s acceleration could be slightly reduced, and you might notice a slight audible knocking noise, commonly referred to as a spark knock. If the octane is less than 87, you might notice a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible." Wow--I didn't realize! So much information.

At the end of the day, I just had a good time driving my car and was thrilled with the mileage.

I'm starting to wonder if you V8 guys are simply missing a few inches, you know, down there, and need to compensate.
