Got my first negative comment on the car yesterday.

First, driving through NC mountains and stopped for gas.

At the pumps, a guy asks, do you like it ?
I said 'Absolutely !'
He said, 'how long will they make them ?'
I was at a bit of a loss and just said; 'uuuhhhhhhhh, for a while I hope'.

Right after he left, an old guy pulls in and looks over and says 'they rewned it !'
I said 'excuse me'.
He says, 'they ruined it'.
I said, 'oh, nice talking to you'.

i been there, I have a 2004 Monte Carlo and with the exception of the 07-08 SS with the 5.3 300hp V8 they have not had a V8 since the 87-88 model year. I walked in and i needed to get a tranny filter and gasket for my car. this is how my conversersation went

ME: i need to get a part for my car
GUY: what is the year make and model?
ME: 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS
GUY: does that have a 6 or a 8?
ME: they have not had a V8 since the late 80s
GUY: (pause) so it is a 6 then?

Ahahaha... that's sad and funny at the same time. I actually dealt with it at a Chevrolet dealership too.. I just don't understand how you can work with cars and not know anything about them, especially ones you work with.

Off topic re: Camaro, but on the topic of not knowing what engine is in a model, when I was selling my 1970 Olds Cutlass Supreme, I had the following phone conversation with an "interested" caller:

Me: [tells him all the usual information about the car]
Him: So what kind of engine does it have in it?
Me: The 350.
Him: So is that a 4 or 6 cylinder?
Me: ........ Um, its a V8.
Him: What? Really? wow....
Me: OK then have a nice day [click]

Well, in their defense, Chevy did release it a little early. If they don't know too much about it, they're going to assume it's an '09 and not a '10. It's really a simple mistake.
Maybe they should have marketed it as the 2009 1/2 Camaro.

I just get sick of hearing that. Mid life crisis car my ass. I bought it solely because I wanted it. The same as a watch, or a pair of shoes, or jewelry...etc. a.n.
