That will be nice. Can't wait to see the results. Will it be available for other FI v6ers to attain? I've been wondering what mod to do next after my gears.

Still attempts to stall while coming to a stop, but feels like its better. The car pulls pretty good, still waiting on my intake though before I dyno or race it. |

May have found out why the Mustang can't get going in first gear. We did a datalog with the SCT X3 tuner and the AFR from 1000 to 3500 RPM's are lean, then at 3500 RPM's the AFR goes to 12:1 and that's when the car finally takes off. I sent the log to BAMA and hopefully they will fix it.
Still waiting on the intake manifold which was supposedly sent last week. Been 5 weeks since I sent it back. |

Got bored and decided to do a dyno run today. Did 3 pulls, but the first pull didn't have the RPM reading right. The operator said the car looks like its pulling a lot of timing so I'm going to see what Arno can do. He did managed to get all the way to 7200 RPM's though.
During the 2nd run (the one I recorded) a puff of black smoke came out of the exhaust near the top end, hopefully it was just some oil that made its way through. |

Black smoke is usually fuel. However, you look like you are going lean at the end so I wouldn't think that was it (unless it came after he let off). You do look like it is pulling timing from how jagged it is, but it could also be the tach sensor not getting a good signal.

When the ECM senses the lean condition, it pulls timing and dumps in fuel causing the black smoke as well.
Engine sounds strong and running well!

Yeah, think I brain farted, white smoke is oil. Could bad gas also cause the timing to be pulled?

Yeah, bad gas can do it.

Will try to go next time after I put 104 octane in it from the track. Should be going back soon, I ordered 3.73 gears for my wife's Mustang so she can make Camaro boys cry.
Car does sound damn good on the dyno, felt like the ground was vibrating near the end of the run. Just hate having these small issues, if only we had a better ECU. |

I wounder if the LT headers HC cats have anything to do the the much timing advance? agree the black smoke is fuel.

Talked to Arno and he said more than likely it was the intercooler being too hot from not enough air in front of the car and the engine pulling timing and running rich to save itself from destruction. Will see how the car does on the track, that should be a better test.
Think I'm also the first to get the RPM's into the 7200 RPM range on the dyno graph. |

That comes out to about 400HP and 350TQ at the crank which isn't bad, but I'd expect to see a bit more out of her considering the higher numbers we've seen from other IPF cars.
Maybe it was heat, or maybe something else who knows, but hopefully she runs great at the track where it counts!
