Well, most of the times when the Corvette is mentioned the GT500 owners say it's not really a car in the same class (very true).

However, I think the best comparison would be the CTS-V to the GT500 because they're the closest, even though one is a four-door. I imagine the CTS-V performance is pretty much exactly how the Z28 would perform, though obviously that can't be confirmed.

^^^^ Umm how do you know how a car that doesn't exist would perform EXACTLY?
and how is a 4 door sedan that wighs 4200lbs and cost over 12k more an even comparison?

We can as the same how a gt500 that costs over 12k more is an even comparison.

I don't think neither is an even comparison, but the cts is a totally different car 4 doors?
that's a bit more ridiculous than comparing same class cars at least.

I don't, that's why I said I imagine it would be setup to perform the same. The Z28 rumours said it shared the same internals as the CTS-V so I'd imagine the performance would probably be similar.

It certainly isn't an even comparison, but neither is a SS vs. GT500. So, the CTS-V has some advantages over the GT500 in more than just performance, but still it's a similar comparison to the SS vs. GT500 debate.

If you think about it the ss to gt500 while being an unfair comparison (price/fi) is definitely a closer comparision than a 4 door sedan being that the ss and the gt500 are in the same car class (muscle/pony) w/e you want to call it, and yet still closer to a gt500 vs 2 seater arrow shaped sports car.

The GT500 vs. SS is most certainly unfair, but that doesn't mean it still shouldn't be done for fun purposes. Just like comparing the CTS-V to the GT500.

Both the GT500 and the CTS-V are supercharged and both are the performance variants of their model. I think it's a much better comparison than the Corvette, but it's still essentially the same as comparing the GT500 to the SS. None of the cars should be compared but if we MUST compare, I guess that'd be the way to do it.

I also don't see the big deal about it having four doors as long as someone doesn't try and use it as a point for the CTS-V. Just like the Challenger seats five but it still gets compared to the SS and GT500/GT.

I agree the GT500 and the CTS-V is a good discussion stock for stock. On the 1/4 mile track, I may give the edge to the V here since it seems easier to manage the launch. Both seem to be mid to low 12's & trap in the high teens. Since the 2010 GT500 gets the the Ford Racing suspension directly from the Factory already installed, handling will be close. Base MSRP seems to be ~$13k more for the V.......

I wouldn't even begin to make the argument that the V isnt worth the 13k more.

0-60 is 3.9 and 1/4 mile is 12.0@118 for the CTS-V. A bit better than the GT500.

The handling aspect I'm unsure of. The CTS-V has some pretty crazy suspension stuff:

Also present are similar electromagnetically controlled shocks, promising both a smooth ride and, more importantly, mind-bending handling.

Another place where the CTS-V borrows from the ZR1 (and before that the STS) is the use of Magnetic Ride Control. The dampers filled with magneto-rheological fluid are adjusted based on sensor readings that happen at 1ms intervals. Of course, all of this fancy hardware needs a stiff chassis to push back against. To help accommodate this, a massive aluminum cross-brace connects the front strut towers.
