I was stunned! The viper wears 355's!!! 275 is like.............................................. .................. really small and silly...

What was the MPH for the 11.2 and 10.8 passes? The car is probably wicked on the top end!

I saw it in person and it looks like a shiny supercharger surrounded by plastic Tupperware... Just big, flat pieces of cheap plastic and shredding foam insulation. It was the most plain engine bay of all the cars there...

The plastic piece above the radiator is like 7 feet wide and 2 feet deep and totally flat... Looks like a table. Not my thing.

For example, the Aero on the hood doesn't do anything but look good. The car has no side skirts or rear valence and the front splitter is small and un-noticeable. It simply looks like any other challenger with a big hp motor installed. No presence and no tire.

I don't like covers. I already took mine off the ZL1. I had 275's on my 440rwhp GTO. It barely had traction. I can't even imagine 267 more hp. Crazy.

I wish modern motors didn't have all the wires and hoses and crap all over them. Wouldn't need the covers to make them look ok.

And they are P Zeros in 275, Not like that tire is known for crazy grip when compared to other performance tires...

LS motors aren't too bad compared to others though. When talking about engine bay clutter.

It helps being smaller by design I think (push rod and no over head valves). Gets the motor lower and farther back in the engine bay and makes it easier to work on.

I get that they use superchargers from Eaton, they've used outside manufacturer rods before, etc...

You get what I'm saying, others weren't.

Um does the ZL1 motor look any better to be honest? I could care less what a motor looks like, I care more about what it can do, my LS1 didn't look pretty from the factory but it was fast and that's all that matterede to me. I'm glad you like your ZL1 but let's not play the better looking engine game, it just makes you look sad. And those 275 width tires on the Challenger are able to lay down a quarter mile time about a second faster than a stock ZL1 so let's give the devil his due and not seem so fan boy it's sad. Seems there are a lot of butthurt owners out there now who are either bragging about how they can outhandle the Ford and Challenger or the new argument my engine looks better. Just give Dodge credit for building a great car. We have 3 awesome factory supercars now, time to quit whining!

People get to concerned about width of tires. A 275 is a 10.5" tire. 275s have gone bottom 7s@200+ in the 1/4. There is a lot more to traction than tire width.

Gearing, suspension, differential, roll out, weight transfer, traction control, launch control, etc. So without knowing the gear ratios or if it pulls power in 1st, or what, saying it will never hook a 275 is funny.

My mustang GT has 235 P-zero all seasons yet was able to crack off consistent times and dead hook 400rwhp.

If anyone is drag racing a 500-600rwhp corvette the recommended tire, and what people go fastest on is a 275 tire. A lot of people try a 305 or bigger and slow down because all the wider tire does is add weight and extra rolling resistance.

I'm entitled to my opinion, and after seeing it in person, I wasn't impressed. How about you comment on the rest of the car I talked about? I don't think they built a great car so why give them credit? Last time I checked I was allowed to be a "fan boy" on a Camaro Forum. Lord knows the mopar guys are...

Agreed, except when you figure in the novice driver. Seen my fair share of 285 width tires on gt500's and the owners get pretty upset when the car steps out on the 13 second run and nearly hits the wall... A wider tire and a better tire would help this a lot.

If you are slowing down due to rolling resitance from a wide tire, you need more power! Something the hellcat has more than enough of... Sure didn't hurt the viper with its 355's

My experience with p zeros was horrible. They wouldn't hold 230hp and wore like crap. Reason they are cheap-ish...

Not sure how racing a corvette and a challenger compare? One is hauling 4 extra fat girls and an entire trunk full of free weights...

A 275 drag tire is worlds different than a 275 street tire. I agree that on a track 275 is more than enough with good suspension/weight transfer and the correct tire compound.

Whole point was there is more than just tread width to traction. Maybe it has a super tall first gear?

Corvette example was just showing that a 275 is more than enough tire to go fast.

I agree with the GT500 comment, which is part of the reason I think Ford should offer an auto. My auto 2012 GT was running consistent 12.2s while a friends GT500 on 305 drag radials was spinning all over running low 13s. More to hooking up than just the tire. I've lined up with a bunch of 5.0s that are sticks on wider tires that can't hook worth a shit, but my little auto car, you just floor it and go.

People maybe right, it may not hook up worth a crap, but no one knows that yet besides the people driving them. The video and times of 11.2s says it has to hook decent. Maybe they have a good traction control scheme, or a super low 1st gear, or a soft suspension that transfers weight good. No one knows yet.

I would bet my 235s, 255s and 275 street tires all 60' better on my mustang than Jon's ZL1 tires that are wider.
