Some of you young people think time goes by fast just wait
until retirement, never enough time in the day. Have a good one
all.

I was watching Dr. Oz, a show on retirement, and the one thing I remember that sticks in my brain is when "the expert" stated "Retirement is shorter than Childhood".

Say What??? Childhood flew by, plus it was without all the aches and pains of old age. Hubby retired early and is loving every minute of it. He said it's the Best decision he ever made.

That's Outstanding! Seems the case w/my hubby as well. He sleeps better, works out, and eats healthier. The Ol Fart is in really good shape. But he drives like a maniac! Best car investment "Radar Detector".

I had a nice day with my daughter. She heads back to Florida in the morning. I head back to work. I was supposed to go to one of the schools tomorrow but when I left work on Tuesday, my supervisor had not heard back from the principal yet so I need to wait. 2 more days work then a long weekend. I could get used to this kind of a work pattern. I'm tired now so nighty night.

Looks like I am not going to Florida, as my cousins do not want the "hassle" of others coming to the funeral. Never thought of myself as a hassle, but what the hell do I know. We'll send some stupid flowers and some sympathy cards and be done with it.

Anyway, at least I get to enjoy a nice holiday weekend with MY family.

Yeah, that is odd. I had some cousins that would not let us communicate with our aunt in her last year because they were afraid someone would tell her she was dying. They could have at least let us write & send cards. They could have pre-read them. It felt terrible to us. I'd have been more worried she would think we did not care about her. They live in another state too so when my aunt died none of us went since that is more for the living and they were the ones that would not let us communicate with our aunt. Sorry for your loss just the same and enjoy your holiday weekend with your family.

I sure did not want to get out of bed this morning. I did well choosing to work Tuesdays instead of Thursdays in Nashville. There are 5 major events in Nashville today & traffic will be a HUGE mess this evening. Have a good day crew.

I would send the flowers to the deceased one. Then the sympathy cards to each one that don't want a hassle.

I just don't get it. My mother and her siblings always kept these kinds of secrets from others. None of us knew my aunt was ill until Tuesday when some of us were told she died. Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe this is how family should behave.

Exactly. We ordered flowers last night and we will send cards today.

Weather here will be interesting today. Remnants of a tropical storm will be moving through today.

Sorry to hear the bad news.

Not everyone is the same. My hubby has all his affairs in order, and he has clearly stated that there will NOT be a funeral or service or even an announcement in the paper. He's a very quiet, calm, reserved man, and he is extremely uncomfortable around gatherings.

Going to a concert or some sort of show he's fine. But gatherings or parties where everyone is talking, drinking, socializing, then forget it. He doesn't do weddings, parties, or any family gatherings. Definitely not his thing.

When his parents would have a Christmas or thanksgiving gathering he would show up the next day to help clean up the mess after everyone is long gone. Plus he much prefers one on one time, especially with his folks.

You offered to come, I wouldn't be offended, it's the thought that counts.

Sorry to hear, Rick. My sympathies.

Unfortunately, families can be like that. Been there, still doing that. I'm the one who moved away (job opportunities), and 45 years and change later I'm still the one who does all of the traveling when we do get together with any of the rest. Hell, my daughter picks up more from her generation courtesy of FB than I ever have by all other means from any of the older generations. Third-hand news by the time I hear it.

Yes, we do all of the traveling, visiting, phone calls, and follow up. It's like we moved to a different country. The only extended family we've had visits from have been on my wife's side, none from my side. I especially like my cousin who said, " We love coming to Phoenix frequently to go golfing", but they haven't been here in 6 years. I could go on, but won't.

But I'm OK now. Life goes on, and I am off tomorrow.

I stayed pretty busy all morning just trying to get a handle on my caseload & what I need to get done. 2 of my 3 afternoon clients canceled or did not show up so I got to leave early. I am Soooooooooooooo glad I did not have to be tied up in that traffic mess in Nashville today. I would likely still not be home. Instead Here I sit already suppered, chores done & in my comfies for the evening. That part of this new job is going to be good.

Rick --- Sorry about the loss of your aunt and apparently cousins!! Your holding up your end of the log and that is all that matters!! They are not holding their end!!

Got the driveway finished this week on the car shed. Starting to find more time to work on it in the evenings as the bait season is slowing down.

Hope everyone has a great and safe Labor Day Weekend !!

John
